O.K., I went with the VILLAIN........
« on: May 22, 2009, 11:01:15 AM »
and I'm GLAD I did. After thinking it over for a while, between the Villain, Orbit Extreme, and the Creature, I decided I wanted control with POP and that's exactly what I got.

Drilled it pin down with the cg shifted out at a 45 degree angle from the pin and a weighthole close to the CG http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll5/juggernaut_too/Bowling%20balls/0515092122.jpg

This ball gets through the heads very cleanly in its OOB finish, even after they start to transiton, and it doesn't seem overly sensitive to a bit of carrydown. Carry has been very good, especially considering I just dropped down to 14lb equipment.

The ball is really nice, but I STILL need something to drop down to when they really start to fly. Guess I'll be looking for that Orbit Extreme pearl after all.  Pitch in an Angle and a Mega-Friction and I'll have an all A.M.F. set-up, something I would've never envisioned

 Sluggo35,
I've been bowling for several years now, and remember Phil Cardinale from his days at Track. He was an innovator then, moved on to start dynothane, and now owns/runs Global900, which is manufacturing the A.M.F. balls.

Much of the old Track is apparent in the lower and mid class A.M.F. balls, including the Orbit Extreme, Villain, Nighthawk, and Heist ( think Dry/Desert HEAT, Triton Elite, HAVOC, and Revmaster/Arsenal Artillery ), balls that once set the standard in the industry, from the cores to the super-flex cover. If it was great technology then, why not now?

A.M.F. is making some balls that are practically replacements for some of the older tech balls that I liked really well a few years ago, and I think I am going to end up with several. I could kick my own butt for not having a HEIST, which I almost bought several times and just didn't.

I have been wanting to try a villian now for months.  I finally pulled the trigger and bought one off of tekneek.  I can't wait to try it out.  I hope mine works out as good as yours has for you.

It is sneaky strong, especially when I lightly scuffed it. The ball, when in OOB finish, was very clean through the heads and strong enough to kick the corners out, even on lighter hits.

I am pleased. So much so that my driller is in search of a Blue/Ivory Orbit Extreme with my specs on it right now.

I know someone in leagues who throws this ball.... kind of reminds me of the Track Slash the way it moves in his hands.... smooth

I thought about getting this ball but I have a Slash of my own that still moves with the smoothness and control I look for......

The VILLAIN shares a very similar core SHAPE with the SLASH, but the numbers are a little stronger in the SLASH. The VILLAIN is 2.48 and .040 while the SLASH is 2.52 and .047, which means the SLASH has a higher RG (which promotes length) and more differential (which promotes flare).

I never got to throw a SLASH, but for me, the surface of the VILLAIN allows me to get through the heads cleanly and has enough "pop" to get the corners out, even when playing/swinging the fourth arrow.

I've used it for 3 sets and am averaging about 215 with it and it could be more, if not for pilot error.  I gave away a 700 series the last set with open frames ( 1st game-8th frame, 2nd game 8th & 9th frames, 3rd game-10th frame, all on doubles. )

This is what I keep hearing about this ball, that it has a very controlled and consistent reaction but still enough to carry well.  I'm really in need of a good control ball because I am bowling a summer league on the kegel patterns and I think this ball will help.  The only medium type ball i have is a street rod pearl and its just too flippy for this stuff.  Will let you guys know how it works for me once I get it drilled up.

In its OOB finish, the VILLAIN can still be a bit flippy, especially with a high pin drilling.

For control, you might want to drill one with a control type drilling ( lower flare with shorter pin-to-pap) and use the surface finish to adjust the total movement of the ball.

Good looking ball. My proshop guy had one for sale at $179+inserts+tax, but he sold it pretty quick.

I got quite a bit better deal on mine than that, else i might not have tried it. I don't think I would've given $200 for it drilled.

It's a good ball. So good that I also bought an Orbit Extreme pearl for a step down from it, and was thinking about something else for a step up from it as well. Perhaps a Mega-Friction is in my future?

I have an undrilled Villain. My question is the Lunatic and the Clutch kind of similar to the Villain if they were drilled the same?
