When you change from inserts to no inserts do you use the same size hole as you use for grips.

No. The inserts need space. So if said inserts are not deployed, you will require a smaller hole.

The replies above are concerning using the same size hole as was used for placing the inserts into.

If you are asking about using the same size as the finger insert size for the drill bit, I am not sure.  I assume so but not positive.  Example, your finger inserts were sized 25/32 and 23/32, so without inserts, using those size drill bits to drill the finger holes.  Hopefully, someone with experience will answer that.

Thanks MI 2 AZ, I meant the size for my fingers not the grip right now I use 7/8 and 13/16 inserts I was wondering if I used the same size without grips.

if you have your inserts tight; then you need a slightly larger hole.
even bigger if you plan to put tape in them

If you are using 7/8 and 13/16 inserts and drill finger holes using 7/8 and 13/16 drill bits they will be too big.

best way is to just measure your fingers instead of looking at your inserts.

If you have a good ball driller, he/she will measure your fingers to make sure the size is correct.  There are just as many ways to drill a finger as a thumb hole.  I do not use grips and I oval my fingers.  This allows me to get the most comfortable grip as possible.  I also do not bevel my finger or thumb holes.  This keeps my release clean and keeps me from grabbing the ball.
