Homemade Ball Oven idea
« on: November 09, 2013, 12:08:30 PM »
Before I try this, I want to see if others already have, and if it is a good idea or not.

Take a box and line it with Foil, and use a heat lamp for a heat source.  Would this provide enough heat to do anything?  too much heat?  would a turn table be needed to keep the heat even?
Wise bowler told me once: K.I.S.S.   Keep it simple stupid.

Tried a variation of this, what you'd need is circulation.  I landed on picking up a dehydrator with a fan (base only) on eBay for less than $20. Then I got a large planter and lined it with foil. Firs great over the base and leaves room around ball.  Works absolutely great and cost me maybe $30.

Exactly what I did and posted on it several years ago here. Works like a charm.

If you search for DIY here you'll see how others have improved upon that basic idea. BTW, the original idea wasn't mine.

$60 food dehydrator from bed bath and beyond along with a $9 rubber container is the route I went.

does the homemade oven work better than the dishwasher? I've had good luck just using the washer.
