Lilac City Tournament
« on: April 29, 2009, 03:24:45 AM »
The last couple of years I've been thinking about going to the Lilac. Anyone have any thoughts  on it or experiences?

Check the rules carefully and bring ALL of your tournament scores with you for the last 3-5 years (or longer depending on what the rules say).  Also, make sure you check your summer averages as well...they will check these and make you use them.  If you don't use it and they find it...there will be a DQ in your future.

I've been going there the past few years, don't think I'll be going this year.  They have rules against even PBA members now bowling which is ridiculous.  But it's a decent tournament.  There's a new house this year, and the older house carried pretty well.  Hopefully the new house isn't terrible.  It's a lot of fun if you send about 20-30 people from your local house as people from my home house do.

The teams shot is pretty tight, but the singles and doubles is scoreable.  Bring some brackets money, I paid for my whole trip with brackets last year and I bowled horribly.  That's the best thing about it, lots of money to be made if you can keep the ball in play.  good luck!

I live here in rochester. yes double check your averages and tournament winnings they check everything. Doubles and singles is at terrace gardens.  brackets are always good. make sure you have a dull ball for team event  the are tight on fresh. also dont be afraid to check out the upstate bowling tournament at dewey right around the corner it is doubles and singles 4 games each for 50.00 and top prizes are guarnteed. There is also wild irish rose in canadaguia ny which is another awesome tournament tean doubles and singles. need anymore info let me know.

The Lilac is at Gates for team event and Terrace Garden for doubles and singles. They moved the d/s there when Olympic closed after last year's tournament. I can relate to bring dull equipment to the team event- since that house went from a wood to synthetic surface on the fresh it's played very tight.

Fun tournament if you bring a big group of people there.

Thanks for the heads up, guys. I likely will be doing a couple of squads in the team event. I'm looking forward to it.

I scored well last week in Scranton, at Idle Hour - which is synthetic. Plus my home house in NY is synthetic.
