Ditto.  Didn't get the breaks he needed in final match.

It sucks that when it comes down to it, it doesn't really matter how good you are or how well you throw it, its just about who gets the breaks.

It's all up to the bowling gods for good or bad breaks.

Shafer has always had terrible luck, I've never seen a guy leave so many pocket 7-10's on TV.

Shafer just seems like one of the guys you would bowl with every week on league night.  He likes to joke and kid and talk smack like everyone else.  Genuine good guy it seems and I hope this year he gets a shot at a major and wins one.

BREAKS???  He was ONE SPARE away from a Major.  I wanted Shafer to win more than anyone, it wasn't about breaks.

I like Shafer's bowling and general attitude a lot, but I have agree.

While he did everything necessary to get to the finals, once he got there, maybe he was worn out mentally or emotionally, but he almost seemed to give up. With all the games he bowled under various conditions to get to that spot is a tribute to his versatility and his nickname, Bulldog. I mean 99.99% of us reading this would not have withstood the grind of all those matches, but then, missing those two 3/6/10s just did him in, mentally.

Shafer is a good guy and gives back to the community.

I hope this one doesn't haunt him.

Oh, really?  Don't think he would he wouldn't have wanted to trip one of those 2-8's for a strike like the last match?  How about those on the beak carries the two hander carried?  Don't think he would have liked one of those?  Funny how you're the only one who thinks he didn't get some breaks.

He got a couple breaks with the 2-8 in game two... but the 3-6-10s got the better of him!

I was rooting for Shafer as well.  I like how he pointed out Mike Scroggins as being an inspiration.  Those 2 guys are really underrated.

Did anyone else other than me listen to Osku's strike ball go down the lane?  It has a completely different sound than anyone else's.  Its like when pitchers throw a baseball 100 mph and the seams of the baseball cut the air differently.  He creates such an absurd amount of revs, it's pretty ridiculous.
