It was a little better, but still sucked. The PBA won't be around much longer...

Ya he was really due for a good break.

Maybe he can actually win this thing. (And I don't know the ending and don't want to know)

I think Shafer was surprised that he won the last match. Took him like about 7 seconds to realize that he's moving on.

I thought Shafer's reaction was a little over the top...You react like that when you win making a good shot to close out an opponent.  If an opponent still has a chance to beat you and can't seal the deal - you've gotten lucky...case in point - Duke Vs. Mika.  Duke reacted correctly.  Shafer, not so much...

As for the actual telecast, I think the "set" they're using needs to change.  Bowling belongs in bowling alleys not on these built up made for tv sets.  It just looks so generic and boring.  I don't know, I just think it would ring more true to what the sport is all about.

To me it looked more like shock/surprise.  Coming of the lanes after his last shot he said something like "that's how you give a tournament away".  He knew he left the door wide open.  His opponent only needed 9/X (I think) to win, so Ryan was relegated to thinking he was done.  Even 8 on the first shot could have been a tie.  I think after a second when he did the math on the 7 count he was genuinely surprised that he'd won.

He definitely was surprised, no doubt about it...My beef is the reaction AFTER sitting for 5 seconds and then acting like he won on a shot he just made instead of being handed the match by his opponent.

I understand what you mean by celebrating after throwing it great to shut someone out, but I would be just as happy (inside) knowing that I stole one after flubbing it.  Like you said, maybe it would have been better if he kind of had that whew! reaction rather than what he did, but sometimes it's hard to control your reactions.  Quite a few people here hate the PBA in general because they act like robots.

I thought it was nice to see some emotion for a change.

he admitted to probably getting a little too excited in the interview afterwards...so it's not out of the realm of possibility to say he had an actual human being-like reaction...is that really the story of the show? Shafer's 3 seconds of excitement? Must bowlers find ANYTHING to gripe about? That is reaching there

So Norm damn near in tears (again) is more honorable than Shafer getting excited..Really?? I guess you must really hate the Schlegel reaction to Pedersen
