Thumbs down PBA decision :(
« on: March 02, 2009, 07:12:27 AM »
By now everyone has heard that the PBA is cutting costs by having the 1st 7 events held in Detroit. The event dates range from August 1st to September 7th and they will be taped and aired at a later date. The exception is the PBA World Championship which will be aired live...ON DEC 13TH! The 4 finalist will have to wait 3 months to bowl the finals!

The seven PBA championship events with dedicated telecasts will be taped at the conclusion of the World Series and air out over what has traditionally been the first half of the PBA Tour season from mid-October to early December 2009, Sunday afternoons on ESPN. The first half of the season on ESPN will conclude with the live finals of the PBA World Championship on Dec. 13, featuring the four finalists decided in early September at the World Series.

What's up with that Fred Schreyer? Why the wait? What happens if someone gets injured? Did you guys actually think this through?

It's a (stupid)play on the horrible idea the WSOP had where they played out the main event to the final table, then waited for ESPN to air the previous days of the main event, before doing it live in November. A 4-5 month difference so people wouldn't find out who won before hand, and therefore watch the final table episode that played the day after it actually happened.

Stupid idea, but whatever.

What the hell is the point of balling it a "tour" anymore. Where are they touring? This decision is stupid. The best thing everyone can do is let your voice be heard. Let them have the tournament, sounds terrific but don't let it effect the whole first half of the tour. Have that as your first tournament then let the players tour and have tournaments across the country and most of all let all shows be LIVE on tv!!

With the average price of homes in Detroit nowadays, they could offer a new home in Detroit to each of the winners.
