Who would you pull for? Osku vs Belmo?
« on: March 08, 2010, 12:19:47 PM »
I gotta go with Osku He made a telecast before anyone knew about throwing a ball two handed. IMO Osku is better bowler than Belmo.

Belmo I just dont like he seems like a nice enough guy just dont like the hype he gets, He hasn't done that much on tour he needed special treatment last year to get a exempt this year. You would think with all the hype Belmo would be the best to ever shoe it up but he is not much better than average if you ask me.

Both are amazing talents... I have to give the edge to Osku in my mind... no strike ball is THAT potent

So if Belmo got preferential treatment last year, did Voss get the same treatment this year or did he (and Belmo) earn it?

I dunno if I would pull for either.  It just seems like a fad to me.  With the balls that are out today, do you really need all the revs?  I just don't think so.  I really haven't been able to see the two handed style give them any advantage over the traditional bowlers. Maybe it's also because I don't like how the USBC is trying to jam Belmonte down everybody's throats.[/quote

In all honesty all you need to do is watch Osku bowl a block to see the advantage.  He's not the most accurate in the world but the pins have NO chance when he gets to the hole.  When he's able to throw darts he can be pretty ridiculous.

from what I've seen  with both Osku and Belmo.. is they can make even a tough shot, look pretty easy, because they get so many rev's they dont have to be so accurate, and the speed they create also allows them to miss left, and still rip the pocket..

I mean seeing Belmo use a plastic ball and ripping racks is sick...  or seeing him loft the gutter and doing the same just makes me go wow, its pretty un-fair they have a huge advantage,, but... they still have to make repeat-able shots and score well ...

I do think the hype for Belmo is a bit over done..  but he did prove he can win,,,

Also,,, I do think if they PBA would open up thier Fields, you'd see a few more guys who can prove they can also win and place in the money on a very consistent basis.

Err.....  The "special tratement" you say that Belmo needed to do well last year?  He came out of the TQR to win his title last year.  No "special treatment" there.

My point is, if the two handed style is so dominant and that much better, why aren't we seeing one of these guys every week? Assuming of course that Osku had an exemption. The style is interesting to watch but I don't think it's the end all to be all.

It's not but it's being promoted by the PBA and USBC to garner the much needed "what's new in bowling" aspect.  Grasping at straws.

I agree if a high rev rate works so well Robert Smith would have more titles and Rudy "Rev's" Kasimakis would have a title.

Guys like Mike Scroggins Mr. Wrist Support low revs straight player has two majors and what 8 titles.  Even though he's a wrongsider which helps no doubt.  Revs over rated. WRW revs? I think not all you need enough to knock 'em down.
