http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7541408I have been trying this ball out for a couple of weeks and have now been able to do a review on it.
Ball speed 19.5
PAP is 5 1/2 over 1/2 up
Layout is:
4 3/4 pin to pap
5 1/8 cg to pap
5 1/2 MB to pap
weight hole about 2 inches right of MB
I will start out with what I found with the ball in OOB surface. I used this ball on both wood and synthetic lanes. This ball is so smooth on the heads and revs up a ton on the backside. I have found that with the shine on it once you get some carrydown it does get a little inconsistent which is no big surprise with a pearl ball that is what the Break solid it for. I typically do not like my equipment shiny because of my ball speed they ten to skid through my break point. With the Break Pearl I was actually able to play inside angles very well but when I tried playing around 7-5 the ball would just jump off of my hand. Overall with the ball in OOB I was very impressed that it did not slide through my break point it had a great reaction time after time.
I did then do a test with it by taking a green scotch brite pad to the surface just to know the shine off of it. Now this ball with no shine on it I was able to use with carry down. The ball got down the lane an extra 5 feet before it started to rev up and still had a great reaction to the pocket. I was able to play multiple angles with the ball scuffed up a bit unlike when it was in the OOB. I started out playing 8 to 4 and the ball held the line great and had plenty of energy when it hit the pocket. Almost to much energy towards the end of the first game. Left a couple of 10 pins where I send messengers jumping over the 10 pin. When that happened I decided to move inside to see what it would do from there. I was a little bit nervous because of the carry down I would be hitting by the end of the second. I move to 20 to 10 and this ball still retained plenty of energy while hitting the pocket. I was able to stay on that line the rest of the night with now problems of carry down.
By doing this test of the ball being OOB and scuffed I have found that I can use this ball either way. I will leave this ball scuffed though so I can use it when there is carry down as I do not like changing balls in the middle of a tournament or league. I have bowled on both THS and med to heavy tournament shots and with the change of wrist positions and surface I have been able to use this ball on both.
