The After Dark is available in two versions. The Solid and the Pearl. Both offer similar shapes, the Solid is smoother and it has a slower response to friction, while the Pearl is slightly cleaner and it has a stronger backend motion, making it more angular than the solid. They complement each other quite well.
We tried the After Dark Pearl in our typical house shot and I found this ball more versatile than I thought. I was able to play a similar line than with the After Dark Solid and I saw more motion downlane than with the Solid. I was also able to move a couple of boards right and the After Dark Pearl offered enough recovery to make it back to the pocket.
This ball will be a helpful weapon for a wide variety of bowlers. For the ones who are just starting bowling, the After Dark Pearl will be a great option. For the competitive bowler, this ball will be a great ball to use when you need a ball that is clean through the fronts, when there is a lot of friction in the front part of the lane and when you need more shape down the lane.
Overall 900 Global delivered what they are advertising with the After Dark series. Both balls complement the rest of the 900 Global lineup.
