900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl
« on: July 28, 2024, 07:53:59 PM »
The Harsh Reality Pearl is the next release in the 900 Series lineup for 900 Global. It features the 902 Reserve Blend Pearl cover and is wrapped around the AI Disturbance Core. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4 x 2 and this is another slightly tweaked layout for me. Ive thrown this ball a few times and it gives me a more blended motion than I thought it was going to be. It reminds me of the ultra popular Storm DNA Coil with how it’s smooth for a pearl cover stock. I would say the Harsh Reality Pearl isn’t as revy in the front part of the lane as a Coil would be and gives a little more back end reaction. I can see myself actually taking surface to mine to use it more on the fresh on older lane surfaces because I need it to get through the fronts but its still really smooth on the back.

The Harsh Reality from 900 Global has been a great high performance piece for higher volumes of oil. The continuous motion has made it a favorite for a variety of bowlers. It was just a matter of time before a pearl version was released and the Harsh Reality Pearl doesn't disappoint. The great news for fans of the Altered Reality is that in my opinion this ball is the best replacement released to date. The Disturbance AI symmetric core maintains the great continuation and the 902 reserve pearl coverstock gives you great length and a quicker change of direction down-lane.

I tested the Harsh Reality Pearl in league. I was really curious about how continuous the ball would be with the powerful core when I had to get in and cover boards. Our house tends to have alot of early friction in the surface, but our longer heavier pattern makes it so you need a strong down-lane reaction to get the ball back. I've struggled a bit with some of the high performance pearls wanting to get forward too quickly when I get left. I lucked into the perfect opportunity to test it as we were on lanes 1 and 2 (Highest friction in the house). This ball definitely HOOKS. I had to start around 20 at the arrows on this pair and I was throwing it over the left gutter by the end of the night.

The Harsh Reality Pearl retains energy really well. I love a ball that can create angle in a smaller window, but not roll out when you cover boards with it. That combination really opens the lane up once you're a few games in. For a strong reaction even when the fronts get fried this is the ball.

I'd recommend this ball for anyone who runs into a condition where they struggle to clear the heads and when they do their ball struggles to continue. High Rev, Low rev, high speed low speed this ball matches up for everyone at some point.
