900 Global Background?

I like 900 Global balls, and the shoes they rep, but I'd like to know more about the company.  
 
They seem to have a strong comprehensive line and solid R&D but still don't have near the profile of the Utah or Kentucky guys.  I know Cardinale was involved initially but is now off to Radical.
 
> Other than Cardinale, are the former pre-Ebonite/Columbia guys still running G900?
> Is G900 still mfg AMF equipment?  Designing AMF equipment?
> Who is/are the ball designer/s for the current G900?  Eric Thomas - or is he more sales?  I'm just interested in the source of the various G900 innovations.
> Any informed opinion on the longer term prospects of G900 vs Br, Ebo world and Stm/RG etc in what seems to be an overcrowded market?

I coudn't afford to buy a sock right now, more or less stock.
 
Just in considering investing into a line of equipment I'd like to know the whole story.

Cliff note version is Global is being run by some of the same people that ran Columbia 300 before the sale to ebonite.  It's not a start up company at all they have many years experience in the business.  They still have a great relationship with BASF which is the company that supply's them the resins to make the ball and Nick there R&D guy is one of the smartest guys in the industry.  The workers have many years experience building balls as most of them were building the balls for C300 as of Eric and Dave they both have extensive knowledge in the industry as well.  If your looking to explore a new company for your bowling equipment you can completely trust 900 Global.  They produce enough balls world wide to be a large player but small enough to give you the customer service you want as a consumer.  Hope this helps.....Good luck.

They currently are even making the balls in the old Columbia plant and on the orginal equipment except for the lathes, which were the only pieces of equipment that Ebonite moved to Kentucky from what I understand. I say currently because they will soon be in their own new facility on the south side of San Antonio. The man who builds the best ball lathes in the business was a Columbia employee and came back to work for 900 when they started up. Dave Smart was with Columbia and has been at 900 from the start. The cover stocks are the old Columbia covers with updates of course to obtain todays higher performance on the upper end balls. They also have one of, if not the first international warehouse, so they will ship to a central location and distribute throughout Europe from there. I think that type of smart thinking is an example of the progressive nature of the company. I always liked the older Columbia balls so figuered why not give 900 a try back a couple years ago and never regreted the decision. If you haven't tried one of their balls I would recommend getting your hands on the Black Eagle or even the Train to see what you are missing. The Hook line is also a great entry level with higher than expected performance and power at the pocket for a weak cover ball.

Phil Cardinale is no longer at 900Global. He left to start his own company, Radical bowling a year ago or so.

One other notable fact about 900, is they make balls for several other companies. Radical balls are made there for Phil as well. Not sure if they still are but the lower end Storm were even made by them at one time.

I think Jet, whose latest balls are made in the USA, may also have the Altitude made by 900Global.

 900 Global also pours balls for the likes of Lane 1 and Seismic. The last storm stuff to be poured by them were the Fast and Furious.
