Ball to complement the Lunatic

I am loving life with my Lunatic right now but I was looking for a ball to make a 1-2 punch in my bag. Lunatic is drilled pin under ring with cg out and a low hole. This ball is great for me until I need to get it to scoot further later in the match.

What is in 900's line that will make the combo complete? Should I drill another Lunatic with the pin up or should I get another ball?

I don't have enough experience with the 900 G line to make a good choice on my own. Opinions?

Haven't thrown a Lunatic yet but the Link is a very good ball. I would expect that it would allow you to stand about the same spot as you were with the Lunatic after the breakdown. For me it was my go to ball on broken down PBA patterns and fresh Cheetah this summer. It has great carry and as long as you have decent ball speed you should have no problem getting it downlane. The only thing I would say is put more of a control drill on it cause it can be quite angular at times.

I find it interesting that you use the Lunatic for the first two games? I bring mine out when I need the extra length to stay in the pocket. If the Lunatic is the first out of the bag I would say a Link drilled up strong would be the choice. I have yet to find a condition for the link to work on but many will say the Link is stronger than advertised.

Link is stronger than the numbers, still a real good ball, what I used most of the summer around here in San Antonio. So far for the fall, in different houses I am just loving my new reactive Hype. I have several drilled,both pin up 6x5 and 4.5x4.5 and the length it just so easy and the backend motion does not stop. Being at a 45 rating I would go pin up and this should give you a nice 1-2 punch.

Yes I am with Mineeota as well, I have a Link with a 4 1/4 x 4 1/2 drill on it and it is VERY condition specific. I have yet to find a condition that i have like it on.

I feel the Hype pearl will be the best bet for what you are looking for. I feel that 900 gloabl has a HUGE gap in this part of their line. Thats why i look elseware when trying to find a ball for broken down patterns.

I don't really think there is a ball in 900's line for what you want (Link is much weaker), however the AMF Hype Reactive (made by 900 Global) would be exactly what you are looking for.

Thanks guys...I am finding myself missing the Creatures for this very reason :-(

I drilled several Creatures for guys over the last 2 years and found them to be great. But they dont exist anymore :-(

I had considered a Link but was skeptical because of my experience with the PowerGroove line of balls...that high RG got the ball downlane and then it just went dead left creating all kinds of entry angle and leaving me 9 pin after 9 pin.

Any opinions on another Lunatic with pin over ring or bridge with cg in tight to eliminate the weighthole and then like a 2000 and shine?

see, I like the link, Pin two inches above the ring with MB in the thumb.  Strong and Smooth, I dont see over/under with it.  Maybe because its Rose color

The Hype can be strong as well, this core does flair considerably more than advertised.  I think a pin below ring hype would work for what your looking for, it does get angular like the sideways so you'll have to give it some room, but I think you can get it farther downlane than the lunatic and it wont over snap on you.

I know there are still Creatures floating around out there but, as the local pro shop guy, I am in a position where I NEED to be able to sell what I throw.

Every so often I will run across a ball that I throw very well and then people start wanting the ball....without the ball being in production it's tough for me to choose it as a ball to throw knowing that I can't get one for the customers.

I have balls I can use, I just can't get any of them anymore so I don't throw them....

The guys above got this one right...Hype reactive will fit the bill.  We try to compliment and piggy back both lines with each other....

Doug,

I like the idea of going with a second Lunatic.  It is such a versitile ball and go with a long but controlled drilling and should have a really nice 1-2 punch.

You can also go with a Link drilled the same as your Lunatic and take the shine off of it and go with 4000 Abralon.  I have drilled quite a few Links this way and really makes it a very good ball on the drier conditions.

I have a Lunatic with the Pin above the middle finger and cg in the palm. This ball gets down the lane extremely well is is soft off the break point. I absolutely love this ball... I kept the surface the same, I just apply Ebonite's Factory Finish after about 30 games...

Eric...thanks for the input, I'll take a look.

Randy....the Lunatic is a stronger Chainsaw, a lot like the old Tour Power IMO or maybe a Teal THS....

Sr...I am thinking similarly...maybe a pin under Link would work

GoDenny....I was thinking pin over bridge with the cg kicked no further than 1/2 oz positive. should keep things nice and tight with no hole needed
