Out of curiosity, does 900 Global use cores in their 12-13lb balls? is it somewhat of a modified version? curious whats in a Break S75...
-
From my understanding from a prior thread, the cores in all 900 global are the same shape throughout the weights they offer.
-
In discussions with Tekneek about balls for my wife he told me that in order to get the real core you need step up to 14 lbs. If I misunderstood Steve can correct me.

I remember them saying something to that extent, and that they used some generic core or sorts for the 12-13lbers. was just curious to what it was.
-
I asked Nick from global who designs the cores this very question for a female bowler I know and he said "no generic cores"
-
there may not be "generic cores" used but I can say 1st hand there is a difference in the hit and drive between the #13 and #14. She has left more 8-10 splits using a #13 in the past 4 weeks than she has left in a life time using the same ball in #14.

I would agree with Steve, since he drilled up the 14 lb Breakout for my wife her pin carry has increased quite a bit and her average has shot up 12 pins, and she is not leaving near the amount of pocket splits that she did using 13 lb. equipment.

Our 13# and 12# core shapes are indeed the same shape as the heavy weights. Going from 16# down to 12# some weight does have to be taken out of the inner core mass to get the total weight down. So yes the same shape is used but different densities of the inner core are designed to hold the total deadweight at the specified total ball weight.

If the lighter weight ball does not allow her to throw the ball a little harder with a little more hand that is exactly the result you will get.

Very true Dave but something tells me Steve (tekneek) already knew that. Steve is very knowledgeable when it comes to equipment.

Thanks brunswick for moving bowling ball manufacturing to Mexico.

Now using 900 Global & AMF equipment, scoring higher than when I was using brunswick plus it's manufactured in America by Americans.

slightly off topic but related...
I normally throw 16#, but I serendipitously found out that the 13# Columbia Resurgence moves and carries incredibly well - much better than the 14# or 16# Resurgences I had. Many people I''ve told have not believed me until they''ve seen it with their own eyes.
I brought it out again last week on a THC and again had a 700 without working particularly hard at it. I can hardly believe it myself. I''m currently a barely 200+ player on house conditions so 700''s are not an everyday series score for me. I almost always come straight through the ball, and I don''t rev the 13# up any more due to different hand action than I do with my 16# balls.
I''m thinking of buying a variety of 13#s cheap on ebay and doing some experimentation.
One thing for sure...this whole ball weight - kinetic energy on impact etc. is more subtle than many realize.

Throwing rocks at sticks...Does it get any better than this?
