Whats everyones thoughts on a g900 creature pearl s40 for old wooden lanes where the ball just hooks at your feet. Im a lefty that has been throwing everything across 4th to 5th arrow. I score well but would like to get back to my comfort zone(insert lefty jokes here) for a little more consistency. After reading up on this one, I think i could drill it way down and make lazily arc to the pocket. There is plenty of head oil and freshly screened lanes in the house, they just use a shorter pattern for the older folks so they can see there balls hook. They use an old kegel pad machine and 5 out to the twig is o.b. from anywhere.

Link! Creature s40 is a great MEDIUM oil ball. Unless you are rev challenged, speed dominant, or drill it weak, it will hook on lighter oil and wood lanes.

I have the creature s40 with the pin at centergrip.. no weight hole.. the ball is super smooth but it is not for dry lanes. I would say it is a true medium to medium light oil ball..

I don't have a bunch of games on mine yet, but I'd say J_w73's assessment is pretty accurate. Mine has the pin right under the finger bridge with the CG kicked just a bit right. Didn't have enough back end to match up well with my Thursday night house shot, but that's not what I bought it for anyway. I used it for my PBA league (Cheetah) last week, and it was stronger than I expected. Of course, this PBA league is at a different house than I've done them before. I'm kind of curious how the rest of the patterns match my expectations. I thought the Creature would be great for Viper and Chameleon, but I get Scorpion and Shark next.

With a glossier polish, the Creature might be good for what the OP wanted. The Link might work as well, but everyone's definition of dry is different.

Creature?
tcrank is talking about the Creature Pearl.

?

Depending on what tcrank used that proved to be too strong, the Link or the Creature Pearl could be the right ball. Need more information.

jw-3 and Strider are talking about/have mentioned the Creature, a true great medium oil ball, BUT tcrank said the Creature Pearl, not the Creature, a solid!!!!
(Or am I misinterpreting something here?)

Oops...misread that. Ok the Creature Solid is what I have. Unless the pearl gives a lot more length and is a good bit weaker I'd still say it's too strong. I'd still say the Link over the Creature Pearl.

But again, until you know what tcrank threw that was too strong, you can't say the Cretaure Pearl is too strong or the Link is not strong enough. You can't say anything. We have no basis of comparison.

Tcrank, where are you?? Give us more info!!!!!

You're correct Jeff. I saw someone mention the Creature solid and continued the error. The OP did in fact ask about the pearl. I stand by my assessment of the solid in case it helps anyone else, but unfortunately can't comment about the pearl since I don't know how much weaker it is. But like you said, until tcrank gives us more info, it's hard to make a recommendation since we all perceive dry differently.

I don't understand why pro shops push away people buying off the internet. I work at a shop and we have no problems with it. We charge 40 for a blank drill and still make good money and don't have to bother with making an order and stocking a ball. It just isn't smart to drive a customer away when you can make almost 40 all profit by just drilling a ball. But then again I would never go to a proshop that charged me 175 for a ball that isn't on the high-end. That is almost 100% mark-up just a little crazy if you ask me.

the creature pearl would still be too strong on the backend on wood lanes.
I bowl on Brunswick Anvilanes and they play slick already, but the Creature
Pearl for me gets great legnth and goes left like someone kicked it. The
second this ball sniffs friction it takes a left. Now thats for me, I have
alot of hand in the ball, and a stroker might be able to get it to play lazily.
Its hoping for alot, but anything is possible. I would look to the Link or
even the Awakening. I'm throwing the Awakening now, and its alot smoother than
the Creature Pearl. It still has a bit of pop on the backend, but not nearly
as much as my CP.

The CP was sneaky strong on the backend and I threw it a few times and its now
sittin on the work bench. It only sees action when I go to tournaments.

I would totally agree. I added the C/P to complement my C/S and gave it a layout to force it down the lane some. My thinking and what I actually got out of this ball were totally different. This ball actually rolls very early. Earlier than my expectations and earlier than the layout would suggest it should roll. I ended up taking it to 4000 abralon w/ magic shine. This has tamed the early roll, but has not taken anything away from the backend movement. It still retains its energy and makes a strong controlled move to the pocket off the break.

I am still getting used to this ball, but I think the the C/S and C/P along with my Link will make a strong league arsenal and still be go to balls on the sport patterns.
