Dream On Layout Suggestions
« on: March 26, 2019, 08:08:50 AM »
Hey guys,

I got my hands on a cheap NIB Dream On, and I'm planning to drill it up for Nationals actually. I'm looking to get a layout with an arcy shape, and smooth motion. Something to start with on Teams, and possibly to start with on S/D (with more surface).

About me:
- Righty
- PAP is like 4.5 over and 0.5 up
- 16 - 17 mph (according to the qubica machines at our center)
- 325 rpm
- Axis tilt: ~25* (I'm a spin biscuit!)
- Axis rotation: ~50*

I was going to try something like 45* x 4.5 x 60*, but would love others' opinions and experiences with this ball.

Thank you!

Nothing about the On is arcy like your other equipment. Ball is a monster on the back. If you want to use it for a first ball at Nationals, I like the layout, but take it to 1000.

Btw, I'd be remiss if I didn't give you points for

1. Invader Zim
2. Gir
3. The Doom Song

Well done, sir. Appealing to my nerd side is always good.

Alright, that's semi-unexcpected! But hey, surface adjustments are good for that sort of thing.

I found this video on the interwebs, and dig the shape he gets with the pin-down layout: https://youtu.be/DZni6U5AZ0I. It reads the mids and continues real strong in the back. For me, this shape would help me stay outside. I could even go from this to a similarly-laid out Truth Tour to camp out for as long as possible.

The pin down ones look awesome because the pin ups transition so fast. The core is a beast. I hated my og at first, until I figured out I had to feed it to the friction from an angle I'm not used to being able to create lol

Still have a nib and I'm going 45*4.5*65

I have a dopey dopey question - the core in Dream balls have really similar numbers to the core in the OG Inception balls (solid green/black one and the pearl silver/purple one). How the EFFE do they shape so differently with literally the same coverstocks on them (different flavors of the S74R)?

The shape of the Inception core is much different than the Dream core. Only thing I could think of

Doom, I'm curious how the Dream On and the Truth Tour compare in strength and shape if drilled similarly.  The Dream On has always appealed to me, but a friend has recently started throwing the Truth Tour, and it looks really good for him, even better than his Phase II which he usually kills with.  It seems stronger overall in the oil.

Well, between the TT and On, they're totally different. TT has a stronger cover, but less diff, so it's going to be smoother than the On.
