Gifted an Infrared - What to Expect?
« on: September 11, 2019, 01:40:07 PM »
I'm getting myself an Infrared that's in good shape! Maybe 30 games on it, and the cover was well maintained. What type of ball was this for you guys?

Very nice! How's it compare to an X2?

I would say picks up a little more in the mid lane than an X2. Probably 3-5 boards stronger. It can definitely fit above an X2. I absolutely loved my 2.

When the core was in the c300 formula, it was my favorite of all time, and the first time I bought 3 of the same ball.

I'm excited to get holes in one.

So I got to throw the Infrared for a bit - woohoo! I drilled it 4.5 pin-to-pap, 35* VAL angle. This puts the pin around 1:30 from my middle finger, maybe half an inch away.

First thoughts: the ball rolls REALLY nice! It can handle a bit of oil, and has no problem turning the corner when playing a steeper angle. I've seen go through the pins well from a few different spots. I'm pleasantly surprised by this ball, to be honest. It's definitely a different shape than my pin up X2, and seems to dig in a bit earlier.

Here's a vid of a few shots with it. I moved left 2+1 with each subsequent shot to see what it would do. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cohG5cJYXOgsDPDLhPy4VqYMdc_e4neS/view?usp=sharing
