I thought I read somewhere that the soaker covers needed some break in time before they actually showed their true colors.
I recently aquired a Element Ne10, drilled it almost exactly like my Heist which is 4 3/4 X 4 for element, 4 3/4 X 3 3/4 for Heist, both pin in ring.
i took them both to 4000 abralon to see what differences I could see in them. Well I used the Element the other night in league and struggled with very inconsistent reaction, throwing good balls even farily strait it would labor to get to the pocket, but if threw it in the dry to quick it would hook hard, shot a 153, this is in OOB surface by the way.
Made the changes with both balls, went to practice last night on a fresh medium longer pattern, maybe 41-43 feet. Was interchanging balls, Ne10 then Heist. Same thing was happening with the Element, it would labor the first game, even playing a tight swing. The Heist was hooking about 10-12 more boards than it pretty easily. As the night went on though the ball seemed to be getting stronger and stronger, and by then I could play deeper with the Element than the Heist. Only bowled 3 games by myself so didn't burn up the lane very bad. My backend reaction was increasing to a hard arc flip. It really seemed like a different ball, and had pins flying everywhere.
Has anyone else seen this with SOaker coverstocks? I was confused with this ball at first but now I think it is coming alive now.
