Going to grab a Hook hybrid soon, and am trying to make it fit at this house near me. The pattern is kind of short (37 feet at best) with all the free hook you could want outside of 8. Only ball that seems to work without really opening up my angles is my Link. My big heist gets down the lane, but is super strong off the spot. I was thinking maybe a hook drilled weak, or maybe even a Rico drill would help me. By weak, I'm talking like 70x5.5x40.

Anyone drill their Hook weak?

I truly loved the Creatures with the S40 cover and happy to see the core from the Code in these balls. Together with the core and cover, I think these balls are definitely great on multiple shots. I have a red/yellow solid and went 5x3 and it is pretty strong. It is clean through the heads and has a very pronounced move off of the dry. I accidentally got the orange/purple pearl and went 5x5 on it and as it turns out, this is my favorite ball next to my Favorite. I shot 300 with it 2nd game out of the box. I love the ball reaction I get from the 5x5 on it. Perfect length and amazing continuation through the pins. Very predictable arc. It is all I need for THS, but it definitely gets early and flippy when its ready for polish. I want to get the hybrid and do a similar layout as the pearl. I am sure you will truly like this ball!

2" pin from axis and knock the shine off before using...this pattern is more about the layout and surface than the ball. Just used an Ultra Angle from 1988 with 500 grit playing 5 to the gutter all night and lapped 99% of the league. Good luck.

i drilled my red/yellow hook with the pin 2 inches from my pap. i kept box finish, real smooth rolling piece. most of my stuff I drill with a 2 inch pin to pap , because I dont see much oil.

So like maybe a 60x2x50? Last ball I drilled like that was a TNT, had a Ebonite Predator and a Track Money all.laid out similar, and they all rolled awesome. Ill try it!

I have my red/yellow drille 5x70x70 and my purple orange at 5.5x70x70 and both were outstanding on shorter patterns on wood last summer

Was it smooth for you, or just pushed then flipped?

A lot of my stuff is drilled with the pin from 4 to 5.5 inches, and everything is just too jerky off of the dry at this place. My Link works well, but with the S30, as soon as it sees carrydown, it squirts. I drilled my Clutch to use on house patterns, but it forces me in too deep too soon. I tried the cover at 1000 with polish on top, and goodness, that was a bad idea. I think that's a ball I need to keep some surface on. Big Heist is the closest thing to awesome on this shot. My urethanes read too early there. My new Hype Reactive may work, just got it punched up.

I remember the layout on my Money, it was like 1x4 with a hole on the pap. You could get all over it and toss it into the dry, and it NEVER overreacted. I may do the 50x2x60 with a small hole on my pap, and hit it with 4000.

And to make things more difficult, I ordered a Train. What the heck am I thinking?

Just guessing from your guys pictures that you don't throw the ball the same. I would stay with the 2-2.5 range for this ball. It's kind of like a 52* wedge in golf its set up for a specific shot and that is what this ball will be for you.

You and me have that same problem. Anything I drill with a pin 5-5.5 inches away, is just way to flippy off the spot. So, i stopped drilling my weak stuff that way, and went with a 2-2.5" drillings.

Like I said, I don't see much oil, and like to try and stay in the track area. These help alot with that.

Euphoria 2.5", Hook 2", Jewel 2", Times Up 2", Hype 2.5"

I find the exact opposite on my red/yellow and orange/purple. The red/yellow is a lot stronger and does flip harder off the dry where as the orange/purple is longer and is very smooth. I had to take the red/yellow to 4000 abralon to mellow it out a bit. Whereas on the orange/purple is OOB, but does get very flippy when it is ready for polish.

I have the blue/blue and the red/purple. The blue blue is much smoother to me than the red/purple. The RP goes long and makes a sharp left turn and the BB is long and has a very nice arc. The BB stays in my bag and is one of the most consistent rolling balls for many conditions.

I know it sounds like I'm in denial, but I'm not.

Ok, got my hook last week... and don't think I can put the layout on it that I wanted. I got a 5 inch pin with 3oz of top. So thinking the layout I wanted won't work... so thinking of something different.

Has anyone laid out a hook with the pin way up? Like 60x5x20?

What layout were you thinking of doing and what is your PAP??I would think you could still do it. Might have to drill the fingers shallow and thumb a touch deeper but it should be doable...
