How is everyone liking the new 900 Global pieces?
« on: August 17, 2012, 10:14:13 AM »
Anyone have any feedback? The more I hear about the Freight Train, the more I like it. Can't wait to put holes in The Look, and the Sure Thing keeps looking better and better.

I've decided that with this batch of new stuff, I am going to drill it all the same way, and let surface dictate where it hooks. I have a second NIB Train sitting waiting for me to take it to get it drilled, and I am going to compare it to the Freight Train, and if I am feeling saucy, taking video.

Well I cant say any thing about the new stuff yet but I got a real good deal on a train and love it so far it is the first 900 global ball I have ever thrown I threw my first ever 300 first game out of the box with it and 768 that set. Its so smooth I just can't belive how good the ball is for me and my game like I said my first global ball but no way it will be the last

For me I really like the freight train, Sure thing, Black Mamba and then bull whip.  With Sure thing and Black mamba being my starting pieces.  The Cobra is going to be a nice piece to on shorter/drier patterns.

Hosel, do you have a Train to compare the Freight Train to?

I do..and I see more continuation with my Freight Train compared to my Train.  The Train was really early for me with a smooth breakpoint.  I think the core tweak in the Freight Train is better suited for me.

I drilled my first Train 65x4.75x65... much too smooth for me. Reminded me of my Bounty. So I got another one, and am going to go 40x4.75x60, and really see what it does compared to a Freight Train drilled the same way.

Okay, I'm a 900 Global fan, so please take this as honest feedback. I'm disappointed in the Sure Thing. Compaired to the Favorite, it has less midlane with less back end. Seems to be unpridictable when it will move. I was able to use the Favorite on PBA patterns with confidence. This Sure Thing will be for THS only.

My opionion of the new Sure Thing is just opposite...I find the Sure thing way more predictable and consistant compared to the Favorite.  For me my favorite gave me over under type reacation on many various conditions. I did drill 3 of them due to the fact I love a solid black bowling ball.

Did you drill the ST radically different from the Favorite?

If you look at the specs, they use the same coverstock, the cores numbers are well within range of one another, the major difference being the shape of the core, which is slightly taller and thinner on the ST, allowing it to go slightly longer with slightly more backend. I suggest trying slight surface modifications to increase midlane read.

The more I see the ST roll, the more I like it. Smooth. Wish I could still get my hands on a Favorite, but the numbers on this ball, and core shape, are so similar, I think it would roll just like the Favorite. Looks early, smooth, and keeps the pins low.

Now, I REALLY like the look of the Cobra.

Hmmm, My Favorite on our house shot which is a strong side to side wet dry(not much blend).  Is a good strong midlane and pretty SHARP angular backend.( Pin up).

For me Sure Thing is much stronger than the advertised S57 coverstock.  Mine is drilled 70X4 1/2X30.  Depending on the volume on a THS the Sure Thing may be too strong or good for a game or two.

The Look is my favorite piece, drilled 35X4X50.  With surface changes The Look can be used on a variety of conditions.

Freight Train drilled 35X5X50.  This drill gives me a hockey stick reaction.  I have scored well on long patterns with the Freight Train.  This ball needs oil to get down the lane.

Great pieces from 900 Global/AMF.

How does the Freight Train compare with the Black Eagle? Was interested in both, however am afraid that one would mirror image the other. The Eagle is the remake of the Break I believe and it offers the s70 cover and a low rg asym core, while the Freight offers a big high rg sym core and the s77 cover.
