Nationals Arsenal Advice

Hey Team 900G, I'm putting together my Nationals arsenal, and I'm having such a struggle with the last two in my arsenal.

About me: 16-17mph, around 315rpms, about 25* axis tilt, 50* axis rotation. My PAP is 4.5 over, and 0.5 up. I'm more or less a speed dominant spin biscuit.

That said, here's what I've got thus far:

The Definites
Dream On at 2k Abralon - 45 x 4.5 x 65
Roto Grip Halo at 2k Abralon - 55 x 5 x 35
Inception Pearl at 1500 polished - 60 x 5 x 30

The Maybes
Truth Tour at 2k Abralon - 45 x 4.5 x 60
X2 at 2k Abralon - 60 x 5 x 30

On Deck
Eon at box finish - 45 x 4.5 x 70
Respect at 2k Abralon - 40 x 4 x 40

What do you guys think? And let me know if you have any questions / thoughts! I'm open to any and all suggestions (except new balls for I am broke, lol).

I would personally go X2 and Respect.

Okay, I do have a non-smartass comment and or suggestion.

First a question; Have you bowled Nationals before? If YES, then a second question; Do you remember the lane conditions at the end of minors when every ball you brought was hooking way too much? I'm assuming that you can't get very far left with being a spinner with a 315 rev rate, so you are going to have to live in the dirt at some point.

Looking at your list, you have a lot of very aggressive equipment listed that more or less duplicates everything else listed. In my experience, by game 4 in minors, you will have an issue with the lanes drying up. So have a ball you can get down the lane with control when  the toast arrives.

Does your team work as a team or is it every person for themselves?  The answer to that question can go along way in choosing what to take.  Since my team doesn't work together, I chose equipment based on being able to find a shot out of the gate, and not so much about the transition.

How many balls are you taking?  If you are taking 6, then you only need to eliminate 1 of your choices whereas if you are only taking 4 then you have some tough decisions ahead.

Since you are high(er) speed with low(ish) revs, I would suggest more surface to whatever you are coming out of the gate with...especially for D/S.  For example, my ball speed is 15-16 w/325-350 revs and my plan is to start with an IQ Tour Solid @2000 for team and a Crux Prime @1000 (maybe 500) for D/S.

Hopefully this helps you or at minimum gives you food for thought.

I have bowled Nationals before.

This is gonna sound crazy, but I *love* S/D because I can basically play wherever I want. Last year, I finished minors standing on on 6th arrow looking between 3rd and 4th arrows at the arrows, so I can play deeper when I need to.

Based on that line of thinking, the X2 and Respect are my best bets.

Thanks for the feedback, Mr. Wiz. I'm taking 6 with me - 5 + a spare. Generally, our players work together to break them down halfway decently. However, we're bowling with a new companion team this year, so it probably will be different than years past.

With that in mind, I will definitely have Abralon pads readily available for when I need more surface. I heard there was more friction than the last few years, so I was going to keep surfaces around 2 or 3k the entire time. But if they're slick, I can smash them with a 500 pad and get the balls to slow down.

I did not have a good tournament at all, but during Singles I had my best look playing deep with my newly-drilled HB Claw.

The HB Claw helped me out the next day  in the 40 Frame Game as well.
