Shining a Breakout

Have any of you done this ?  Does it kill the reaction or will it go longer and still break on the back ?

Polished mine for Doubles and Singles at the Stadium and it gave me the extra 3-4 feet I needed with plenty of GET-UP on the backend!

I polished mine up for doubles and singles at nationals and have kept it that way. I think it is even more versatile with a little polish. Our pro shop keeps BlackMagic,so that is what I have used to freshen it up. The Break Out really lets me use hand positions to create different angles and carry is excellent. No loss of power with the polish just cleaner getting to the breakpoint.

Gee, with all the successes just applying polish on top of the stock 4000 grit Abralon surface, I hate to say what I was thinking ... but what the heck.

With balls already at a very fine 4000 grit Abralon, if you're thinking of adding polish, I usually suggest taking the surface down a bit, to at least 1500 or 2000 grit Abralon (sometimes even lower) and then applying a light coat of non-abrasive polish.

In my case the ball was at 2000 before polishing. The concensus for nationals was a 2000 surface on the Breakout should have been a good combination. Unfortunately we caught a pair in team with monster backends and the Breakout was more ball than the lanes could handle. Ended up using the Bounty Hunter Pearl the 2nd and 3rd games. Nothing to brag about in any case, too many easy spares missed and a few splits mixed in.
