Just wanted to give you all my first thoughts on the Desert Ops. I drilled it pin above my bridge slightly over the middle finger with mass bias almost in my thumb hole. This is approximately a 5.25 inch pin off axis and mass bias at about 70 degrees. I don't use full numbers as I tend to use most of the same pin placements in my equipment. Before I give an idea of how it rolls, I want to state what reaction I got out of its predecessor the Break Down. The Break Down is drilled identical so I could give a comparison for you. When the lanes have a good bit of friction and I needed something smooth to blend out the lane, the Break Down was perfect. It has a unique motion for me that basically gave me an option for mostly the burn or fresh short patterns. The only hiccup was sometimes on wet/dry house shots, the ball would never recover in the oil and hit flat on miss hits (my only complaint.) So here is where the Desert Ops comes in. It has the same high rg, low diff Break LD core as the break down. The difference is the Desert Ops has the S70 pearl instead of the S70 solid. So far after throwing the Desert Ops for 10 games, I can already tell it is definitely way more usable. The ball is still pretty clean through the front like the break down, but it isn't allergic to the wet/dry as much. I know that sounds weird considering it's a shiny pearl but trust me when I say that. I don't think it will be a ball you can use on super super dry, a boost would be better, but the Desert Ops will be more usable on a variety of conditions. I would say in terms of stength for our shiny balls, I would go Inception Pearl, Truth Pearl, Black Ops, Drift, and Desert Ops. 900 global literally has an asymmetric and symmetric core for each condition which I just don't see any other manufacturer doing. If you have any questions, please let me know. I'm always here to help and will always answer anything honestly.
