have a crack of somesort in them... its really annoying.

That is kind of odd. I have 14 different 900 Global/AMF balls and all but one of them are in perfect condition.

The one that isn't has a major crack in it, I called Eric and sent him some pictures and he shipped me out a replacement next day.

And are you talking about stress fractures? I have a buddy of mine that it doesn't seem to matter what company ball he throws it gets those little hair line cracks around the fingers and thumbs. I have to believe it has a lot to do with the fact that he is more of a full roller and the ball has a tendency to hit the pins on that area of the ball. But if no other ball from any other company does that it's hard to say.

If it's really that big of a deal, call Eric. Their phone number or e-mail is on their web site. If he can't set things right with you maybe he can help find some answers as to what is causing the problems. Those guys are great down there!!!

How many balls and what types of cracks? If they are defects, I'm sure Global will replace them.

If all or most of your new equipment is doing this, maybe there is something else to look at. Maybe your pro shop's drill bits are dull. Maybe you need a touch more bevel on the holes. Many pro shops use way too much glue on the inserts.

I'd have to agree with this. If they all have cracks, I'd check into your driller's procedures. I've had 4 or 5 plus others manufactured by 900Global. None have any cracks anywhere. Friends have had many made by 900Global. No cracks there either.

Is it around the fingers and do you use finger inserts?

Too much glue used to put in finger inserts will cause cracks to coverstocks due to the quick drying of the glue that takes moisture out of the ball...making the coverstock brittle...

I would say if you have all your equipment with cracks then you need to find a new driller. He must be using dull bits or as mentioned before to much glue in the finger inserts. Not drilling the recommended 1 inch from the pin? I have only had a problem with 1 900global ball cracking out of 17 that I have owned.

It could also possibly be the glue being used making the cover brittle. I have had zero problems with the 12 Global produced balls i have. I use either the purple Vise gel or Ultimate Bowling Products gel

I think Strider has a big point. If your driller isn't putting any bevel on the holes the sharp edges have a tendency to crack. I had to learn that the hard way myself.

If you have ball with out any cracks yet check the edges of the finger holes if thier still sharp, round them off. Maybe that's not the root of the problem but it won't make matters any worse.

link-hairline cracks around the pin
break solid- cracked bridge
break pearl- hairline cracks around the pin
bounty- crack starting to come off finger hole to the pin

maniac and s-75 i havent noticed cracks yet but probobly soon to come if they follow suite.

i got the 3 breaks from somebody on here, bridge cracked on solid and the break pearl is having hairline cracks fromthe fingers to the pin

links hairline cracks are around the pin but i dint think any have connected to the fingers

bounty just noticed one coming off the finger last night.

i dont think any of its going to hurt anything just yet... its only like surface hairline cracks.. only one i need to get fixed is the bridge on the break as its cracked twice and the part between the grips is being held in by glue on the grips, its just aggravating that almost every ball i own of theres has cracked in that spot

Classic cases of too much glue around finger inserts and possibly drilling too close to the pin. On the ones with your pin cracked how far are they from your fingers?

Some of the covers on these balls aren't very thick so if too much glue is used when putting in the inserts, cracks can happen. Cracks can also happen around the pin if the fingers are drilled within an inch of the pin.

When using glue to glue in finger inserts, I take super glue and put a tiny bit on the bottom of a dixie cup. I then take a paper clip and straighten it out and just take a touch of glue and glue the inserts in. This way avoid cracking and worse case situation is that insert comes loose and put a tiny bit in again...

I agree and disagree.

Given that the cracks are of the hairline variety I believe that lends itself to lack of bevel.

On the one with the cracked pin it does sound how ever that you drilled too close to the pin with the finger holes. A cracked bridge can just happen, especially if your ball driller didn't make your bridge wide enough.
