Title: Zen U
Post by: john178 on June 13, 2024, 04:59:36 PM
Other than trying to generate new ball sales, does anyone know why the ZenU was discontinued?

They probably discontinued the ZenU for a few reasons. Sure, releasing new balls to boost sales is part of it, but it could also be due to things like production issues or just not selling as well as they hoped. Sometimes they retire older models to make room for new ones or because it was too similar to other urethane balls they already have. Did anyone else feel it overlapped with something else in their lineup?

All the “urethane like” balls with some blend of reactive have been rejected in favor of traditional urethane. They simply do not provide the level of control needed when the lanes are difficult and do not create enough entry angle when the scoring pace is high to increase pin carry so they are the worst of both worlds.

There is only one reason balls get discontinued.  Ain't enough people buying them.

I've been out of it for a while, but it used to be a ball was released and sales decreased about 50% every month.  If you don't start with a pretty good number, it gets small pretty quick. The balls that stick around are the exception to that pattern.

Best answer you can get. It's very simple.
