The 900Global Eternity high-performance bowling ball was designed to expand upon the shapes offered by the Reality and Zen high-performance balls. The S84 Response Pearl Reactive coverstock on this ball has the capability of being fine-tuned to match a variety of oil conditions. The technology used on this coverstock helps the ball get through the front part of the lane but also dig into the oil, unlike other pearl coverstocks. Review:
The Eternity takes the well crafted cover design from the Altered Reality and increases the microscopic pore size for this ball.  Cover S84 Response Pearl Reactive = Proven winner, Core Epoch Asymmetric = 900 Global history with a caveat (The intermediate differential has been reduced to prevent the ball from “locking up” or losing energy too quickly). Remember the Black Ops? Miss the success of the Altered? Look no further.

Recent MatchMakers I worked at are showing the Eternity is a top choice for bowlers. For my review I tested the ball on two fresh house shots at two different centers along with the Altered Reality. The Eternity is a nice upgrade, not missing a beat.

It is important to note I used a 5 1/2 x 5 x 5 - 2LS layout which is well suited to handle wet/dry conditions we see in our league environments.  For me, the Eternity did not require any surface adjustments on the two house patterns I tested it on. I do not mind the Reacta Gloss oob finish and will evaluate over the next several weeks.

I was most impressed that the ball easily glides through the front part of the lane and was very balanced in terms of hook off the spot and entering the roll phase. Many times you'll see asyms "quit" and roll weaker off the spot then we like to see. The Eternity does not do that and should provide a nice range of angles to attack the pocket.

Compared to the Altered Reality, I feel both balls are very similar. The Altered was a little stronger and a bit tougher to control at times with my overall slower ball speed. In all honesty, it is splitting hairs. The Reacta Gloss finish on the Eternity has its advantages in terms of helping create length and I'm finding good control.

The overall strength of the Eternity took me by surprise.  This is a ball that, despite having a shiny finish, absolutely needs oil in the front part of the lane to be successful. With that being said, the first game and set I shot with this ball was 300 and 815, so I very much love the reaction of this ball when my house shot is fresh. It has a lot of midlane roll, but still continues all the way through the pin deck in a very impressive manner. For my house shot, this is the strongest ball in my bag currently, and I follow it up with the Zen and Revenant.

I have put about 50 games on my Eternity after searching for a successor to the Altered Reality. In my opinion, the Altered Reality has been one of the greatest balls I've ever thrown. I even stashed a few because that's a ball I want in my bag for as long as possible. The Eternity naturally was a ball I bought as soon as it came out.


The Eternity is definitely not the Altered, being an animal unto itself with it's own eccentric qualities. Upon out of box experience, this ball made about the worst impression on me I think I've ever had. The first five games, this ball would lock up, crap out and was an incredibly frustrating weak and unpredictable motion. I wanted to throw it in the trash on my way out of the bowling center. However both of my pro shop guys who are with Storm said I needed to take the Reacta Gloss box finish off and set the surface the way I wanted. Why they use Reacta Gloss on out of box, I have no idea. Especially since it's universally hated and every review will say take it off immediately.


I then hit it good with a 1000 pad until I was sure all the Gloss crap was off, and use Reacta Shine to clean after every session. After about 50-60 games since buying the ball, it's gone from one of my worst of all time to my second favorite ball after resurfacing and about a 20 game break in period. This ball is definitely not the Altered but is a really unique, interesting ball with an extremely aggressive shape.


Pros:

- One of the most angular balls I've ever thrown. Explodes like a boomerang in a nearly 90 degree hockey stick flip on most conditions. When this ball is working and controllable, it's one of the easiest balls to shoot good games I've thrown.

- I like the Eternity core more than the Altered core, which was about the only negative thing I could say about the Altered. I feel like the Altered has a tendency to go long and leave singles. While I think the Eternity core drives harder and cuts through the rack better than the Altered.

- Super controllable through the fronts and mids. Just toss it at your break point and let the ball do the work.

- One of the most aggressive Storm universe balls I've thrown. The shape and core are super unique in how they wind up and seem to speed up as the ball explodes off the breakpoint. It is an extremely strange and unfamiliar motion at first. But once you get the hang of it, this ball cuts through the deck like no other.

- I've thrown the Eternity everywhere from gutter to gutter. This ball looks good in a number of different areas on the lane when the conditions call for it.


Cons:

- This ball has some strange quirks in it's behavior and took about 20-30 games to turn into what it is now. At first I felt like this ball was a Ferrari body with a Honda engine it, as the ball motion was nowhere near as explosive as an Altered Reality. However, with the Eternity, you have to control it more and come down to it's level to get the most out of it.

- On that note, one of the best things about the Altered is it will keep up with you, speed wise, no matter how fast or hard you throw it. You can throw the Altered like a gorilla at 18-19mph and it will still shape, explode off the breakpoint and shape through the pins. The Eternity tops out around 17mph before it cannonballs and no longer will read or shape. This is one of the most disappointing things about the Eternity for me.

- The Eternity seems to constantly want to slow itself down, leading to uncomfortable variations in ball speed. At first, this is uncomfortable as the differences in ball speed from shot to shot as the core winds up will be difficult to control and make you doubt yourself as a bowler. However, once you learn to flow with this ball and shape it the way it wants to be shape, this strange core winding that the Eternity does will work in your favor.

- This ball excels around 14-15mph which allows the core to wind the ball up and explode through the deck. However, at lower speeds, this ball can get a mind of it's own once in awhile and do some erratic things.

In conclusion, after a terrible first impression, I have come to really like this ball and throw 10-20 games a week with it in practice. I haven't had the confidence to throw it much in league or tournaments yet but looking forward to playing with it all Summer. I have thrown a ton of monster games with it and it seems to be getting better the more I use it.

The new 900 Global Eternity features the all new designed Epoch Asymmetric core and wraps it in the S84 Response Pearl coverstock finished with Reacta Gloss.  The 15 pound Eternity features a RG of 2.49 with a differential of .050 and an intermediate diff of .014.  I drilled my Eternity the same as my Reality Check which was 5 x 4 x 4, this put the pin under my middle finger.  The Eternity for me, goes about 2 feet longer than my Reality Check.  It has a more defined backend motion and better continuation through the pins.  The Eternity is a great compliment to the Reality Check.  The Check can be the first ball out of the bag, but when it starts to read a little to early or loses its punch through the pins, I can pull out the Eternity, stand in basically the same place as I left off with the Reality Check and get right back to striking.  The Eternity will allow me to keep chasing the oil left but will allow me to open my launch angle much more than I could with the Reality Check.

The Eternity is a new asymmetric ball in 900 Global’s 900 series line.  It features the S84 Response Pearl coverstock formula from the Altered Reality which is currently the strongest cover they use.  The core is the new Epoch core, inspired by the original Break core, but with a reduced intermediate differential to prevent it from losing energy too quickly or “locking up” like stronger asymmetric balls tend to do. 

I’ve used the Eternity at a couple different surfaces on a couple different lane conditions.  The Reacta Gloss box surface was inconsistent, so I resurfaced it to 1000 grit on a resurfacing machine, and then finished it with Storm’s Step 2 compound to polish it back up.  I generally recommend changing/resetting all box surfaces to fine tune them for your game and the conditions you bowl on, or to at least help break them in faster or take the factory “edge” off. 

The Eternity, while definitely CLEAN for my wife and others, is fairly early and heavy rolling for me.  It may also be SHARP for others, but is somewhat smooth and forward rolling for me.  I don’t necessarily think it locks up, it’s just more forward off the spot for me.  I don’t generally do well with chuggy, forward rolling balls that roll so heavy and slow down so quickly, so the Eternity was a very poor matchup for me.  However, I think I’m the only one I’ve seen it look this way for.  My wife’s is clean, sharp, and very READABLE, predictable, and consistent.  My experience with the Eternity seems to be isolated to the point where I feel quite comfortable highly recommending it in general and especially as a replacement for the Altered Reality, despite not having great results with it myself.

The Epoch Asymmetric Core is an ALL-NEW design that was inspired from the original Break Core that was used in any other 900 Global balls in the past. By changing and lowering the intermediate diff, it prevents the ball from locking or losing too much energy too soon and allowing a sharp backend recovery. The cover allows the ball to stay clean front to back of the pattern and you don’t have to get aggressive with drilling angles. The cover and core combo makes most patterns readable and allow you to stay in the ball longer during the course of league and tournament play. On stronger cores I started to use shorter pin 2 pap drillings because of my recent changes in fit, I don’t need strong drillings to make the ball aggressive. I found the Eternity to be very close to the Altered Reality from last year, just a tuned down version of it. During league the Eternity roll up to the pocket with a good bit of speed and angle and stayed consistent throughout the night and then later during some much-needed practice sessions. I feel it had a little stronger pin to pap drilling, it would be to over / under for me. The Reacta Gloss has held up very well over the course of the past several weeks on using the Eternity.
The Matchmaker balls have been very versatile for all levels of bowlers and lane conditions. Even after 2 hours of lane play at Matchmakers, the Eternity still reacted very well and kept striking even on the burned-up lanes. The Reacta Gloss is holding up very well on the demo balls where the prior surface prep would have been used up.
Don’t shy away from adding the 900 Global Eternity to your bowling arsenal for the upcoming local, state, and national tournaments. This ball is very versatile and well worth the investment.

The 900 Global Eternity is the much anticipated sequel to the previously released Altered Reality. It shares the same S84 pearl cover but a different core in the Epoch asymmetric core. I drilled mine 5x4x2, I am a low track player, 480RPM, 14 degrees of tilt, 55 degrees of axis rotation, average of 16.4MPH. What I see is a much more rounded shape than I got from the Altered Reality. The Altered forced me pretty far left from the get go, and would sometimes see friction so quickly that it would lock up and go forward. The Eternity allows me to play a little further right and dictate a little more of the shape with my hand which is something I like to see. In my initial test on our THS, I was able to start in the track area and continue striking all the way into 6th arrow. Versatility is a definite plus with the Eternity. I did change the surface from box finish to my usual 500/1000/Step 2 to more closely mimic the old 1500 polish box finish that was used on previous polished releases. In sum I would say that this does make for a good replacement to the Altered Reality, just know in advance that you are going to see a slightly different shape.
