Sublime Focus
« on: September 27, 2024, 09:52:51 AM »
The 900Global Sublime Focus is a precision-engineered symmetric bowling ball designed to excel on medium to heavier oil conditions. Building on the legacy of the original Sublime, this ball showcases the new Reserve Blend 804 Solid Reactive coverstock, finished with a 2000-Grit Abralon to provide optimal traction and control. At its heart is the innovative Immersed Symmetric A.I. Core, which delivers powerful, consistent motion through the pins, setting new standards for performance. The Sublime Focus features a lowered RG and an increased differential, allowing it to roll faster and create more surface contact with the lane. The unique concave/barbell shape of the core, with larger masses positioned at the north and south poles, generates a strong torque effect. This design minimizes the amount of material removed when drilling the thumbhole, preserving the integrity of the weight block across various drilling configurations. Whether you're facing challenging lane conditions or aiming for consistent performance, the Sublime Focus is your go-to ball for a blend of focus and power.

Review:
The 900 Global Sublime Focus features a crafted 804 cover design that falls between the S77 and S84 range that 900 Globalers are familiar with over the past few years. A good ball within the 900 line to compare the Sublime Focus to is the Zen Master. However, the Sublime Focus is a significant upgrade in terms of A.I. core technology and the continuation this offering provides as a symmetric piece.

Moving forward a bit I see the Sublime Focus taking over that spot in my bag over the Storm Summit which has been very successful for me on longer sport patterns. My speed tends to be slower as well, so bigger balls burning up early can be the tendency in the arsenal. At first, I did not jump on grabbing a Sublime Focus. After working a few SPI MatchMakers it was clear to me this ball is special.

The Sublime Focus is a nice compliment to your bigger asym balls as well. Once you attack a pattern with your 900 Global Harsh Reality or your Storm Ion Max the Sublime Focus is perfect to keep the pattern within your control. I believe you will find a great deal of range with this ball. In addition, you can still move in with your shot and continuation is not a problem at all with the Sublime Focus.

For me, I did not do any surface adjustments. It was not needed and I'm satisfied with the OOB surface as is. Core: Immersed™ A.I. Core (Symmetrical)
Color: Xanthic/Indigo/Black

Review:
900 Global is really hitting the mark with their releases as of late and we are really excited for this solid version of the original sublime. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). This is a GREAT benchmark solid and probably going to get looked over a little bit but man does this thing pack a punch and it is a great bang for your buck. If you need a step down from an asym solid such as the harsh reality or ion max this is the one. This ball really holds a lot of energy and continuation through the pins even for burning up so much energy so quickly. This core is simplistic yet beefy and we love it for that reason. 2000-3000 grit pads really change the design and shape for some of our tournament players and compliments this cover very well. We look forward to drilling several of these bowling balls.

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-5/8 x 3/4 up, 380 RPM, 13* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 60 x 5-1/4 x 30
VLS: 5-1/4 x 4-1/2 x 2-1/4

Finish: OOB plus Polish

The new 900 Global Sublime Focus builds upon the predictable shape and carry that we saw with the original Sublime.  I put my weaker layout on this ball with a 5-1/4 pin up, 2-1/4” buffer but the ball was still pretty early for me.  I decided to add polish to the Focus and now this ball shines!!!!  The polish created a cleaner yet angular motion down lane that’s different from the rest of my arsenal, like a hyped-up Summit Ascent.  Recommend to high-speed players or lower rev players who are looking for pieces with traction as this ball will read regardless of oil, no doubt.

Orientation:  Right Handed
Rev Rate:  400 RPM
Speed:  16-17 MPH
PAP:  4 ½ over and 1 1/8 up

Location:  Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO
Pattern:  High Volume THS
VLS Layout:
Layout 1:  4 5/8 x 4 x 2 ½ (Pin above bridge)
Layout 2:  4 ¼ x 4 x 4 (pin below bridge)

The Sublime Focus is the ball I didn’t know I needed!   Solid symmetricals are the lifeblood of the industry especially when it comes to more difficult patterns.  Phaze 2, Optimum Idol, IQ Tour are some of the staples for any SPI bowler.  Add the Sublime Focus to that.  It’s a tiny bit cleaner than the Phaze 2 but stronger than the Optimum Idol.  The Phaze 2 tends to get a little forward if you don’t have enough oil, but the Sublime Focus, with the AI core keeps the axis a little longer which means it continues better.

The more the continuation the more usable the ball across a pattern.  So if you need something stronger than an Optimum or more continuous than a Phaze 2, the Sublime Focus is the ball.  Don’t sleep on this one.  This will be a lot of people’s preference in that strong solid symmetrical spot!
