Wolverine Pearl
« on: January 14, 2022, 10:02:05 AM »
900Global is introducing the Wolverine mid-performance bowling ball as having the biggest backend in the line to date on medium lane conditions. The S70 Pearl Reactive coverstock is polished with 1500-grit and is wrapped around the Lacerate 2.0 symmetric core. The Lacerate 2.0 core is a mash-up of 900Global's two most successful cores. The top part is from the Honey Badger core while the bottom part is from the Badger with an added flip block. This weight block was created to power the Wolverine to change directions with jaw dropping angle. This core and cover pairing allow the bowler to move in and open up angles while tearing up the backend and the competition.

Color: Navy/Aqua
All colors do vary somewhat from the picture shown
Core: LACERATE 2.0 Symmetric
Coverstock: S70 Pearl Reactive
RG: 2.54 (15# ball)
Differential: 0.053 (15# ball)
Finish: 1500 Polished
Recommended Lane Condition: Medium Oil

900 Global Wolverine Pearl
#15.3
3" pin

Coverstock:  S70 Pearl Reactive
Finish:  1500 Grit Polished
Core:  Lacerate 2.0
RG:  2.54
Differential:  0.053n

Rt. hand
14 mph
PAP 3 7/8 1/4 over

Drilling: 4 3/4 x 4 7/8 x 2.5
Volume 38-41ft
THS, Kegel Challenge patterns

Once in awhile we are blessed with a wow ball.  The Wolverine fits that to a T.  A benchmark pearl.  Aggressive pearl with a strong arc off the spot. Drilled this one 4 3/4 x 4 7/8 x 2.5 which is strong for me.  Left OOB and it performs on a variety of conditions.  This ball with its higher diff cover gets down the lane with ease.  Its backend motion strong but also very readable.  Wolverine has a good amount of forgiveness in it.   A throwback motion that we do not see much anymore.  As the bigger assym balls burn up the Wolverine shows no signs of quit.  Its continuation is definitely its strong suit.  A pearl you can keep chasing in with a still get it to corner enough to carry.  The Wolverine fits nicely between the Zen and the Burner Pearl.  If you are looking for a strong pearl the Wolverine is a must have. #GoGlobal #stormnation

900 Global Wolverine Pearl

The new 900 Global ball is the Wolverine which features the Lacerate 2.0 core with S70 Pearl Reactive coverstock.  I drilled mine with a 5 inch pin down under my middle finger.  My first impressions were wow that's a lot of backend motion!  With the fresh cover I had to cut it with 3000 pad to help slow it down.  I compared the Wolverine to the Storm Hyroad Pearl with just a little more midlane motion.  900 Global is making some really good bowling balls these days and the Wolverine is definitely one of them.
I have drilled a handful of them at my shop.  From Low rev to high rev players.  Both have had great success with the Wolverine, mainly in the 2nd, 3rd game and in later blocks of tournaments when they need to get left.  Great ball for 900 Global.

900 Global Wolverine Ball Review by PJ Haggerty

The Wolverine by 900 Global is the newest addition to the 700 Series.  The engine under the hood is the Lacerate 2.0 which is a combination the Honey Badger and Badger core which has been extremely successful in previous 900 Global lines.  On the outside is the S70 Pearl Coverstock and with this core/coverstock combination, the Wolverine is designed to be the highest response time ball in the line.

I’ve drilled one so far and think it rolls great.  I drilled it with the following layout: 5 x 4.  This puts the pin directly above my bridge and I also scratched the surface with 3000 to smooth the response time down just a pinch.  I’ve had the most success with the Wolverine once I need to move left, open my angles, and need a ball to store energy down lane.  After my Reality, Proton Physix, and Phaze II start to get lazy, the Wolverine has been a perfect ball to go to.

If you feel like you’re missing a high-responsive ball that will change direction extremely hard and compliments the asymmetrical balls really well, the Wolverine should be the next ball you drill.

This may be the most beautiful ball on the market. I didn’t plan to drill it originally because I thought I had stuff in the arsenal that was too similar, I was wrong. There was WAY more backend motion than I had expected, it allowed me to move inside late in the blocks get it down there and make the corner. Partnered with my Altered Reality it was literally perfect.. A little sharper than the Altered so when the lanes started getting torched I moved from that to the Wolverine. The Wolverine is the perfect combination of looks and performance! With as well as it is performing on sport shots I believe the Wolverine will be in the bag for a long time.

900 Global Wolverine Ball Review

Hey everyone, I’m back with another ball review, and this time it’s for the Wolverine and in 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the S70 Pearl Coverstock and comes 1500-grit polish with an RG of 2.540 and a Diff of 0.051.
Layout for this ball is 5.5 X 4.5 X 1
I have enjoyed when I am able to get this ball into my hands, but with the bigger balls in front of this ball and the lack of super dry I have at home I don’t get to throw this ball as much as I would like too. I keep this ball in my tournament bag and its really good when the lanes start to get burned up. I can see this ball being thrown on a fresher condition with players with more hand. I am on the lower rev rate side and need the stronger balls to see the friction so again this one doesn’t get into my hand a lot.
BOWLER STYLE: RH - Power Stroker Rev Rate: 320 Ball Speed: 15-16 PAP: 4 7/8 right 5/8 up.

I drilled my 900 Global WOLVERINE up 60 x 4.5 x 30. I have hit it with a 2000 abralon pad.

Out of box, this got a good ways down the lane before it broke for home. Classic skid/flip reaction. I took my pad to it to smooth it out some and it slowed down the large flip reaction and made it more controllable. I have throw it side by side with my BURNER SOLID, RST-X2, and SPECTRE. Compare to the SPECTRE, the WOLVERINE was more motion in the back end. These two really complimented each other well. BURNER SOLID was early and slower than the WOLVERINE. RST-X2 was also earlier but close to the same strong back end motion of the WOLVERINE.

If you are looking for something to get down the lane and really finish on the back, then the WOLVERINE is your ball.

LANE CONDITION

Length: 41ft

Volume: medium/low

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Likes: First impression on the 900 Global Wolverine was WOW this ball floats up the lane!!!! I used the same layout as i put on my Phaze 4 which is a 4in pin to PAP and a back angle of 35 degrees. This ball is the ultimate transition ball for me thus far. When the lanes really begin to hook this is my go to ball. It gets up the lane effortlessly and comes back without a ton of angle down lane. It doesnt give me the typical over/under shape from balls that are typically used when the lanes really begin to hook. This is a legitimate step down from the Zen, same shape for me just an arrow less off the spot.

If you've been around long enough to remember the original resin balls this ball will bring back some memories. It is just fun to throw!!!! If you bowl in a center with some friction just send it and watch the pins fly. For tougher patterns and tournaments this ball will be a burn killer especially for anyone who needs help getting the ball to continue the farther in they go. A light scuff this ball evens out and becomes much more controllable while maintaining its backend. Why ruin the fun? We have that with others if it's what we're looking for.  Seniors or anyone really who struggles with ball speed this ball will be an all time favorite and become their absolute go to ball.

Wolverine: Cover S70 Pearl 1500 polished
 Core: Lacerate 2.0
RG: 2.54 Dif: 0.53

Layout: 45x 4 x 30, Speed Dominant, Rev Rate 275-325 PAP: 5 ¾ over 1” up.

The Wolverine is the newest addition to the 900 Global lines. The Wolverine is the newest pearl with a strong backend motion. It has a smooth motion a cleaner through the fronts with a strong motion on the backend. The wolverine is a bit more angular than the Zen what is currently my favorite ball in my bag. I through this with the out of box finish and found for me that it would sometimes overreact on the dry and labor when I got it in some oil. I did not use any sure and now discovered the wolverine seems to blend better with some surface. The wolverine will be a nice addition to any arsenal and can be used with various styles of play.

The 900 Global Wolverine features the S70 Pearl Reactive coverstock wrapped around the Lacerate 2.0 Symmetric core.  The RG at 15lbs is 2.54 and the differential is .053.  This ball could be the sleeper ball of the year.  This ball fills a gap that I have been looking to fill for quite some time.  The Wolverine is great for broken down patterns and later in tournament blocks.  The ball is super clean and I would categorize the response time as medium…not too quick and not too slow.  A lot of people say this ball reminds them of an original HyRoad, but for me the Wolverine is much more controllable and predictable.  Where the HyRoad for me had a tendency to miss the spot, the Wolverine starts up a little sooner than the HyRoad and doesn’t really get the chance to hydroplane past the breakpoint.  If the lane has a friction spot to throw to, this ball will be in its glory.

900 Global Wolverine

S70 pearl coverstock

Lacerate 2.0 core

The core is looks to be a mix/match/new tweak to the cores used in the badger lines. The final shape mixed with this cover combines to make one of the more skid/flip balls I have seen out of 900G.

Some have been seeing a smoother reaction, but not me...lots of angle here. I think it is a speed/revs combo for myself. I am more rev dominant and that makes some of my similar mid level pearls do similar things.

900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss
« Reply #27 on: August 29, 2022, 11:39:41 AM »
The 900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss features the S70 Pearl Cover and the Lacerate 2.0 Symmetric Core.  The Dark Moss has a medium RG of 2.54 a high differential of 0.053.  To bring this all together, the S70 Pearl coverstock combined with the Lacerate 2.0 Core that is a hybrid core combined with the top of the core from the honey badger and the bottom portion of the original Badger that is setup to be clean through the midlane and strong continuation on the backend.
The review is being done on a typical house shot 42’ with 25ml of oil.
The layout chosen was a 70 x 4 3/4 x 35 which will give you a strong angular arc reaction shape, normal transition time and a forward ball motion.  With this layout the Dark Moss will be great on a variety of patterns such as a medium to short sport patterns or on the transition on long sport or house shot.
I did a ball comparison to the 900 Global Zen & the Storm Hyroad Pearl,
First up is the 900 Global Zen.  The Zen has the S77 Response Pearl cover and Mediate Symmetric core and a great compliment to the Zen Soul.  You will see how the Original Zen will help you out when the Zen Soul starts to burn up leaving the flat 10.  The original Zen hooks more by a couple of boards then the Dark Moss but I had to gravitate left into the heavier saturation of oil to see the difference.  Here is a little tidbit with the Zen, the surface I used a 1000/1500 polish to have it blend out the lane better because at the 4K Fast out of box surface would be on top of the Soul which would defeat the purpose of having a Zen and a Zen Soul.
The next comparison is to the Storm Hyroad Pearl.  As recommended by 900 Global Brand Manager Matt Cabanski I drilled the Dark Moss the same as the Hyroad Pearl so the transition from ball to ball will have an easier read.  The Dark Moss and the Hyroad Pearl are on top of each other until I get into the heavier oil where the Dark Moss is roughly two boards stronger.  As per surface prep, again recommended from Matt Cabanski , the out of box 4K Fast is really aggressive and needed to be tamed down to be on the other side of the Zen I applied polish directly to the 4K Fast finish then took a 4000 abralon pad to the ball by hand to make a matte finish and not to disrupt the polish.
In my bag, the Dark Moss will be under the Zen, followed by the Storm Hyroad Pearl

LANE CONDITION

.Length: 41'

Pattern: THS

COMMENTS

Drilled 75 x 3 3/8 x 30 same as the blue pearl.

Bowled on a variety of THS in different centers, I still received the same shape and motion as the original but with less skid flip due to the 4K finish. It does provide more control with this cover which I feel is a plus because you can add polish to duplicate the 1500 polished finish.
I'm able to play the track on the fresh as long it doesn't see friction to soon. Definitely your House Shot killer and dryer conditions.

More bang for the buck and the best replacement for the Blue Pearl.
