The 900Global Zen Master high-performance bowling ball uses the S77R Solid coverstock which is ideal for medium to heavy oil. This coverstock a paired with the Meditate Symmetric Core making this ball the strongest symmetric ball in the current 900Global line. The core allows this ball to rev up quickly and continue through the length of the lane. Due to the large size of the core, layouts with the pin up or down will not affect the RG/Diff much after the ball is drilled. This ball will pair well on house or sport conditions.

Review
The Prime 800 Series greatly anticipated Zen Master does not disappoint and is an excellent complement to the Zen Pearl.  The Zen Master features the S77 response cover combined with the Medtiate Symmetric core, which is the biggest core 900 Global has ever put into a bowling ball. This is the most aggressive symmetric ball I have in my arsenal. I tested this ball on 44 feet typical house pattern. As a mid to low rev player, I was able to move left of 20 and open the lanes up. I was also able to stand right of 20, play the track area and swing it outside of five with great success. Just like the Pearl the Zen Master strikes a lot. My ball’s layout is 65 x 5 x 45. Last season the 900 Global Zen took the lanes by storm and quickly became a must have for every bowler. This season bowlers will have another ball they must add to their arsenal, Zen Master. The Zen Master features the same Meditate Core found in the original Zen but has the S77 Response Solid Cover. I was so hyped about this ball that I drilled two of them right off the rip, a pin down 4.5 x 4 x 4 and a pin up 5 x 5 x 3. Starting with the pin down one, this ball provides me a lot of early hook and a smoother motion where as the pin up one lets me open the lane up and is stronger on the backend. I have to say these two balls remind me a lot of the two Roto Grip Idols I had and I loved them, they made a great 1-2 punch on a lot of pattern lengths and volumes. Your not going to want to miss out on this ball, I will always have both these balls with me and I cant wait to use them more and more!

The Zen Master features the S77 Response solid coverstock and incredibly strong symmetric Meditate core.  Angel’s layout as always is 5 x 3 ½ x 3 ½, putting the pin above her bridge, mine is 4 ¾ x 3 ½ x 3 ½, putting the pin in my ring finger, and because this is a symmetric core, the cg placement doesn’t matter.  Global covers give you some semblance of their strength with the number in the cover name, S77 is getting up on the strong side and is currently Global’s second strongest cover, and it feels like it’s in Incite territory, or like the solid version of that coverstock would be the best frame of reference, it’s really strong, early, and smooth.  The Meditate core is the same one from the Zen, 2.49 RG and an .051 differential in 15 pounds,, and it’s very strong, early, and rolly, reminds me a lot of the Centripetal HD core from the Son!Q and Super Son!Q, so I think that’s why the Zen has been so popular, it’s the best of several different worlds.  It’s a really smooth and blendy ball that’s squarely in Phaze 2 territory.  I think it’s actually a bit earlier and smoother, it feels like it’s trying to roll a little sooner and it definitely rolls a bit heavier, but realistically the difference is pretty small.  There aren’t a lot of nuances to talk about here, the ball reaction is pretty straightforward. It hooks a lot and is really smooth.  For ratings, once again it’s solidly in Phaze 2 territory but I think even a bit stronger and earlier, so approaching Axiom strength and length, but a bit slower, so the Zen Master gets a 9 for hook potential, a 4 for length and a 4 for backend. 

Zen Master:
The Zen Master features the S77 Response Solid cover and the Meditate symmetric Core. The numbers on the Meditate core are 2.49 RG, .051 diff.

Mine is drilled 4.5” to PAP with a 2.5” pin buffer. The original Zen is a strong contender for “ball of the year”, so the Zen Master has big shoes to fill. And I will tell you now, the Zen Master is special! I would label the shape as medium-to-med/slow but the S77 cover is super strong. My Zen Master out hooked my Axiom and my Phase II and it reminds me of the original Roto Grip Idol.

The new addition to Global's 800 series line is the new ZEN Master. It has the massive Meditate Symmetric Core from the original Zen, wrapped with the S77 Response Solid Cover which has been purposely engineered for medium-heavy oil. The original Zen quickly became one of my favorite balls, so the Zen Master had some high expectations, to which it did not disappoint. I was very surprised by how strong of a Symmetrical ball this actually was. I picks up much sooner in the midlane than I anticipated, while still having that strong backend motion that I came to love about the original Zen. For me, this ball fits right between the Reality and Ordinance C4, and will be a great benchmark ball for upcoming tournaments.

The new Zen Master is exactly what I needed in my bag: a stronger Phaze 2. This ball is the perfect step down from the Reality or RST X1. The Zen Master comes with a 3000 abralon finish, but to me looked and rolled like it had more surface than that. Keeping this ball at box finish, it will be able to combat heavy oil patterns with no problem. When it lane shines, it becomes more similar to a Phaze 2 and works well when you need to blend the pattern without too much down lane shape. I like this ball with more shine on it, so for me it has kept getting better with time. I am definitely going to drill another Zen Master pin down, it is that good!

Review:
Can you say ball of the year? There were very high expectations for this ball due to the high demand of the Original Zen. This piece did not disappoint AT ALL! We love strong symmetrical solids. For high speed and high rev players like ourselves, this piece works great, giving us continued motion and contained energy all the way through the pins. The Zen Master has similar ball motion to the reality, playing a few boards to the right. If you are starting out with a strong Asymmetrical piece this ball would work well as a transition in between that and something similar to the Burner or in the HP2 or HP1 lines by Roto. We anticipate keeping this ball on our shelf in the shop for a while.
