The 900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss features the S70 Pearl Cover and the Lacerate 2.0 Symmetric Core. The Dark Moss has a medium RG of 2.54 a high differential of 0.053. To bring this all together, the S70 Pearl coverstock combined with the Lacerate 2.0 Core that is a hybrid core combined with the top of the core from the honey badger and the bottom portion of the original Badger that is setup to be clean through the midlane and strong continuation on the backend.
The review is being done on a typical house shot 42’ with 25ml of oil.
The layout chosen was a 70 x 4 3/4 x 35 which will give you a strong angular arc reaction shape, normal transition time and a forward ball motion. With this layout the Dark Moss will be great on a variety of patterns such as a medium to short sport patterns or on the transition on long sport or house shot.
I did a ball comparison to the 900 Global Zen & the Storm Hyroad Pearl,
First up is the 900 Global Zen. The Zen has the S77 Response Pearl cover and Mediate Symmetric core and a great compliment to the Zen Soul. You will see how the Original Zen will help you out when the Zen Soul starts to burn up leaving the flat 10. The original Zen hooks more by a couple of boards then the Dark Moss but I had to gravitate left into the heavier saturation of oil to see the difference. Here is a little tidbit with the Zen, the surface I used a 1000/1500 polish to have it blend out the lane better because at the 4K Fast out of box surface would be on top of the Soul which would defeat the purpose of having a Zen and a Zen Soul.
The next comparison is to the Storm Hyroad Pearl. As recommended by 900 Global Brand Manager Matt Cabanski I drilled the Dark Moss the same as the Hyroad Pearl so the transition from ball to ball will have an easier read. The Dark Moss and the Hyroad Pearl are on top of each other until I get into the heavier oil where the Dark Moss is roughly two boards stronger. As per surface prep, again recommended from Matt Cabanski , the out of box 4K Fast is really aggressive and needed to be tamed down to be on the other side of the Zen I applied polish directly to the 4K Fast finish then took a 4000 abralon pad to the ball by hand to make a matte finish and not to disrupt the polish.
In my bag, the Dark Moss will be under the Zen, followed by the Storm Hyroad Pearl
