***This review is for the limited-edition HEIST PEARL. For my companion review on the original Heist, see the post directly under this one.***

The ball: 16 pounds, 2-inch pin, 3-oz. top before drilling
The drill: Pin through the ring, CG stacked below, works out to about a 3.75 x 3.75 drill for me. Surface is box, no weight hole.
Me: PAP 4 over 3/8 up, tweener revs, good speed, high axis rotation and low tilt

When I found out AMF was going to make a Heist Pearl, I decided to jump on that and create a mini-arsenal with the two Heist balls. The Heist Pearl is a limited-edition ball and some are still available through eBay or this site (as of 7/26/09).
Since my original Heist was drilled pin-through-middle and was still a decently strong ball on THS, I decided to drill the Heist Pearl pin-through-ring, get the CG in a different spot and see what I got.
Whereas the original Heist was a little stronger than I was expecting given the drill, the Heist Pearl is weaker than I expected it to be. This is a medium-dry to dry-lane ball. It is very smooth and clears the heads exceptionally well, but when it starts moving to the pocket it lays off and sort of floats in. There is no skid-snap here.
If that's a shot you need in your bag, it's a very good thing. Too many current pearls go nuts when they see dry. This ball does not.
Looks-wise, it's the same color as the Heist Pearl, with enough additive to give it a very deep, almost liquid look. For a single-color pearl, it's got good shelf appeal.
I think this ball would have done well in a wider release. It fills a gap AMF is currently missing in its lineup. It's a good ball for late in a block or when the lanes start breaking down quickly.

The good: Controlled move at the breakpoint, clears heads easily, doesn't overreact to friction.
The bad: Weaker than advertised, probably not as versatile as some would want out of their pearls, won't match up to lower-rev players.
Overall: An ideal medium-dry to dry-lane ball that is all about control.
