I got two of them.  I expected them to be similar to the rule, and it is.  Both are 15.3 lbs with 3-4 inch pins, and one with 2.75 oz top and the other with 3.25 oz top.

I drilled one up the same as one of my rules, with the pin between the fingers, on top and a cg kick to the right.  The other has a 5x5 on it with an axis hole.  The pin between and below the fingers with the cg kicked to the right with a small axis hole.

I bowled with the two on 4 different house shots at four different houses.  The one with the pin above the fingers showed reaction the same way as the rule, going long having a smooth flip on the back and not rolling out, the Maximum Velocity hooked less than the rule, even considering when my rule is highly polished.  I found these results at the four houses I bowled at.

The 2nd ball is very controllable.  It starts earlier than the other, and has a very defined breakpoint.  Backend is moderate, compared to the other, and has an even smooter flip!  
The carry was good, I don't know if its the ball, coverstock, or me.  The rule was great for me and this ball looks great too.  The coverstocks are almost identical.

I drilled my Maximum Velocity 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 with the pin below my fingers. I put a hole 2" past my pap on the val.

This ball is awesome! On a 42' pattern this ball picks up in the midlane very well and continues to move on the backend. What I like about the ball is how it hits and keeps the pins low.

Great ball from AMF that everyone should give a shot.

Hello ten pin lovers!!!

now is time for maxim velocity!!!

16lb pin 2-3
Drilled with pin between and under fingers, cg 2 inch out to the right,
little balance hole 1 inch down pap.

This ball really "runs" down the lane as its name says, with a really strong
roll to the pins but, to late reaction, that causes many 10 pins leaving...

I found that in AMF papers is not specified the real finish in its coverstock, it only says "polished"  but the graduation (sand, dull) is missing. I think this is important, in order to help bowlers making some modification in ball performance.

after 10 games, i put 1500 sand paper and then track magic for shine....
and WOW...
smooth shape in hook.. strong hit...
ten pins are gone....full strikes.

great job AMF300 but please...
be more specific in cover finishes of velocity balls!!!

my max velocity is drilled with a stacked leverage drilling, pin 1.5" and tad right of RF, 3.5" pin, MB in thumb, tweener, throw about 15-16 mph. i was told two things about this drilling, both pro shop guys i have talked to, the guy i go to said it was a strong drilling, the guy i used to go to said it was a tame drilling. now, its sanded a little,  i think just a white pad used to take off some polish, but this ball really sux with carrydown, its supposed to be this strong ball, but it really sux for me in carrydown. why is this?? maybe its just one house i bowl at, i dont really know, cuz it hooks like crazy at the other. if anyone can help me out here i would appreciate it. thanx

I have a Maximum Velocity.  Without getting into specifics on the drilling, I can say that it has a 4" pin, and it is a fairly strong drilling, with pin about an inch above the ring, cg kicked out to the edge of the palm, MB just right of and below the thumb (right handed), with a fairly large weight hole for balance.  Mine is polished with 600 grit polish.

Let me say, first of all, this ball hits HARD!!!!!  Nice midlane read and continuous arc to the pocket at that point.  The only possible problems are first, it hits so hard that you can get some pins flying over the corners, and second, it takes in oil rapidly.  You have to take care of the cover, or you will lose reaction.  Polished keeps the arc tamer than if it was sanded, yet does nothing to hurt the hit.  First ball out of my bag, and I expect it to keep that status (although the AMF Titan is right there if it isn't working as well as usual).  Another great ball from AMF300.  If you haven't tried AMF recently, you haven't tried AMF!

Weight hole on VAL 2" below midline 1" bit 2.5" deep

I must say that this is one of the better overall balls I have thrown in a while.  It reminds me a lot of the Tour Power, but a good bit stronger.  It reads the midlane very well, and has a nice, controlled breakpoint move.  Don't expect this ball to hook around the world, or skid/flip.  It is great when you need midlane and control.

I have thrown Brunswick and Storm for the most part in the last 3 years, this ball has opened my eyes to the rest of the world.  I can't wait to drill a couple of more AMF balls if this is any indication of what is to come.

Hi all i had a maximum velocity drilled up to go nice and long and break hard when it hits the backends and thats exactly what it does.This ball goes long and strong and my god if u want a ball that fly's back on an angle that would make god himself dizzy then this is the ball for u.I throw with a lot of rev's and also a bit quicker than average and this ball just roars back to the pocket and has extremely good carry.If u wanna ball that defies the laws of angular physics then BUY THIS BALL.

Very impressed with the Maximum Velocity. With this drill, ball gives me good length with a smooth, hard arcing backend. Very even rolling. Reacts like you would expect a solid reactive to.

The hit with this ball is also very good. Throws pins around very well.

As far as carry goes, decent. Like i said it throws pins around on mis-hits, but occasionally a 10 or 7 will stand on what appeared to be a pretty good shot. overall though, pretty forgiving.

Overall-8/10. I really like the colors of this ball, makes it look very nice going down the lanes. The only thing I would hope to improve about it is the carry. An under-rated ball to say the least. Another thing I like about the Maximum is the fact that no matter the shot it seems like I can play within the same couple of boards everywhere. On my normal THS, wood house I'm able to play 25 to 10-12 with good speed. on a little heavier oiled synthetic shot i'm able to play 25 to 14-12 with good speed. Someone looking for a smooth, reliable ball the Maximum Velocity is a good choice.

Late on the review, but finally had to break my silence.

I like the ball alot! And now that I know when to use it, it is now part of my league arsenal...

It has a skid/even-arc reaction, which makes it very forgiving.  DO NOT hit the pocket flush though, it drives continuosly and leaves 4s and 9s. I don't get much support on this, but the skid/even-arc reaction is similar to that of my Total NV. No matter how it hits the pocket theres a good chance it will carry.

However, the ball works better on dry lanes (on oil its too speed sensitive).
