this  seems like a very conditional ball. it might play better on tighter lines to the pocket when the oil holds up very well. tried opening the lane up and the ball became to over/under. i tried shining it up and still the same response. im a medium to power player so cant wait to try this ball on tighter patterns where i can play straighter up the boards.

well.. as a tribute to the nighthawk, i felt that i needed to post a review on this ball.  well, first of all, its an original nighthawk. i have 2 of them.  the one i used is 15lb, 4x2 drill pattern, pin just right of the ring finger.  im posting a review on the original nighthawk, as it would be relevent to the new one.  first of all. this ball is great.  after struggling the beginning of league season with my fury and seek and destroy (we won't talk about the low scoring), i felt that i needed something i knew what was going to do and could make adjustments easily.  on the lanes i bowl on, sometimes you never know the shot.  so i opted to go with my nighthawks.  basically stood down 20 threw over 10.. over 3 games only had a 2 board adjustment with my feet and ended up throwing a 235-232-217=684 series.  i would've got my 7 but i missed 2 10-pins.  ouch.  i threw a 584 last week with the nighthawk also.  so just basically wanted to say that this is a great ball, and a must add to your arsenal.  i have a new nighthawk remake and am planning on drilling it up in a week or so.  i hope its as good as the original.  but i've read lots of positives on the new ball.. so im looking forward to it.

med. to high revs
med. speed

I decided to drill up the night hawk cause every other ball i have is drilled up for tourament shots and too much in most cases for the house shot. I drilled this ball up with cg in the center and the pin about 1:30 for a nice smooth arc. threw the ball the other night for 5 games and shot 264,268,242,236,277 this ball was very smooth and hit the pocket a ton ran 18 stikes in a row at one point. in m,y opinion theres no wonder this ball has been around as long as it has.

I bought this ball in March of 2007 and i had a very low bowling avg. it was 115 throwing a plastic ball at that time now since i bought the night hawk drilled @ 4 1/2x2 i have raised my avg. from 115 to 168 using the hook with this ball is simply amazing now i just use the plastic ball for 10 pins the massive back end hook is awsome and awe inspiring i absolutely love this ball

Ball spec's #15.3 2" pin 3oz top wt.
My profile: power stroker, rt hand 15-17mph

Tested on wood, AMF synthetics, Brunswick synthetics and overlays.

Drilling 4 x 4 small wt hole, box finish.

The Black Nighthawk re-make is a supped of version of the original and it does not disappoint! It still performs on today's patterns. It doesn't necessarily have the same backend as the original but it hooks when it needs to. This ball out of the box is superb for sport shots, tough conditions meaning wet-dry or screaming backends. It seems to blend out a pattern and hits like a ton of bricks! It's very easy to read the breakpoint of this ball as well.  This ball shined on a summer sport league and Masters Qualifiers in my area. It does require cleaning but I myself still have one that I've rejuvenated 4 times and still gets the pesky 10 out! Polished it does skid/flip much more but I can't say enough about the performance of this one out of the box. If you liked the original Nighthawk you'll love this remake!

I bought this ball used from P Diddy on this site. Thanks for the gem Dude!
All my friends who have previously owned this ball have shot honor scores with it, so I had to get one, and see what the fuss was about.

This ball is 15#er, with what looks like a 4.5x 3 drill on it. A one inch weight hole is on the PAP. This ball came to me used, and pre-drilled. Amazingly, his span fits mine exactly, so I've done nothing to it, except shine it up.

In it's dull condition it was flippy, and would hook off the lanes I used it on. Shined, I am able to use it on lite oil and medium synthetics, and this ball is smooth as silk! It carries very well, and as soon as I discovered that you could crank it, without a lot of over reaction, this ball became money!

It glides through the heads and mids. I am able to throw a tight line successfully with this ball, and I can slow down with this ball and still be successful. A great piece to own. I don't know what took me so long to get one. but I am certainly glad I did.

Now if I can just get my hands on a pearl...I'll be complete. AMF still rocks!

LANE CONDITION

Length:

Volume:

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Shark pattern

COMMENTS

Likes:  I enjoy the slow hook that the ball provides with my throwing style.  The gentle hook keeps the ball under a more predictable path for better accuracy.

Dislikes:   Sometimes there is not enough pin action and every once in a while the hook is either more or less than normal sometimes causing a break in a great streak of strikes.

If you liked the orinigal Night Hawk, you'll love this new ball by AMF. This ball is perfect for any type of lane conditions, I kid you not. It has a Symmetric Core with the F55 Reactive Coverstock and a NEAT 400 Grit finish that can be used by crankers as well as down-and-in bowlers. It rolls down the lane very smooth and finishes at the break point with a nice arc. I tested through this ball on a THS that's slightly more dry, and it struck over and over. Definitely, in my opinion, a great remake of the original. Perfect as a bench-mark ball to suit any game.

mike811.....If you’re looking for a ball to fill out your arsenal or for the THP or sport condition look no further. The AMF 300 Night Hawk SE is the ball you need, this is one of the most predictable and smooth balls to come along in awhile. I used a 5" X 4" X 3" layout on the Night Hawk SE and I was amazed at how controllable it was off the break point and how it kept the pins low, which increased pin action. The Symmetric weight block and the F55 Hybrid coverstock are a great combo. I used the Night Hawk SE on a few medium sport patterns and had to scuff the surface a little but the ball shape was still smooth and predictable. On house patterns I left the box finish and the Night Hawk SE performed just as smooth and predictable as the sport pattern. This is a must ball for everybody.

Pretty much my favorite ball for a beat up house shot.  After people move the oil around into weird places, I can break this beautiful ball out and play a line that will crush the pins.  Strong back end and severe crushing power to the pins.  The ball revs up so tight that it is virtually unstoppable.  I love it.
