I drilled this ball with a 4 x 4 drilling with the pin above the ring
finger. First game I bowled was in league Friday Night, I shot 279, 259, and
300 the last game for a 838 series. The league pattern is your typical house
shot with alot of oil in the middle of the lane. Started off playing left of
center with my feet and the target being 8 to 5 board. The ball would come
screaming back and hit the pins like a truck. The only time I found myself
in trouble with this ball is when I got in inside it would skid to far.
Overall this ball really rocks for AMF300.

The Venom displaced strong skid/flip characteristics on sybthetics and more of a skid/ strong arc on wood patterns. The full review can be read in Bowlers Journal's latest issue.

thank you

All i can say is AWESOME! The first game i bowled with this ball was a 279 and since then i have not shot under 216. ( mind you i have only had the ball a week) anyways i didnt think this ball would hook much but i found that out really quick that i was wrong. this ball flew on our local house pattern and even when the lanes were oily it still had a good backend. this is my first amf ball and i want to try the radar next.

The Venom is a great ball for when you want control and score ability.  What I mean is that the Venom is very clean through the front part of the lane because of the Pearl in the coverstock, which produces more power in the back of the lane.  It also has particle which does tame some of that power/angle on the back of the lane so you can control it.  All in all it is very easy to get to your breakpoint and have enough power and control to shoot high scores.

I did use this ball on a wood surface with a 41' tournament condition applied. I loved the confidence I had with this ball.  Other particles were burning up a little to early to create enough angle to strike.  Some pearls had a problem squirting on this pattern, while the solid reactives were a close match to the Venom but not as easy to get to the breakpoint.

I hope this review helps anybody that had ?'s about this ball.  I would recommend this ball for a tournament bowler.

My ball speed is 18.5-19.0 stroker.  Use grips and Switch Grip Thumb molds.
Box specs on the ball are as follows 15.03, Pin is 4 1/2-5 and Top-3 3/4.  With this being such a long pin I put the pin 1 1/4 above the Middle Finger.  Drilling turns out to be 5 3/4 x 3 1/2.  I have left this ball in box surface and also have a 1" weight hole on my PAP.  I can use this ball on any kind of medium oil.  I mainly been using it on Medium 1st shift shots.  This ball for me gets incredible length due to the pin being high.  When it hits the midlane it revs up really nice and arcs very hard to the pocket.  I can play anywhere from first arrow straight up the boards to swinging second to first arrow.

I wanted a particle pearl ball with a strong, predictable reaction that would fight through carrydown better than my other pearl balls. This Venom was pin 1.5 - 2" out of the box with 1.5oz of topweight. It was drilled with a strong leverage drilling off the AMF sheet. The pin is below and 1 inch to the right of the ring finger with the CG below the pin about halfway from the center of grips to the pap on the midline.

I used this ball on freshly resurfaced wood lanes with a house shot, playing between the 1st and 2nd arrows, and it had a strong midlane reaction with a defined breakpoint and continuous roll into the pins. This ball basically sets up and maintains the angle from the breakpoint all the way into the pins with a strong roll. It hits very hard and it holds line well because of the reaction shape off the breakpoint. I think I got what I wanted out of this ball so far, it is a solid piece of work for the arsenal.

I have used the Venom on synthetics and it is more of a skid/flip reaction on this type of lane as a previous reviewer has said. The ball is still smooth and predictable though, just maintain your speed and it will find the pocket but it will go longer and make a more pronounced move on the backend on synthetics. I am truly impressed with this ball, it is a ball that anyone can use for a full 3 game set with minor adjusting as the lanes change and it will not let you down.

This ball has a very smooth front end, and an aggressive back end reaction. I mainly Use it for my spares, but it is good for a versatile reaction.

Ball spec's" 15.4 3" pin 2 3/4oz top
My profile: power stroker, rt hand, 15-17mph

Tested on all lane surfaces, synthetic, wood and overlays.

Drillings, pin up 12o'clock, small hole, polished.  Pin down under ring cg in, 2000 Abralon.

Where do I start about a ball that gets me 21 in a row in tournament play??!! The Venom is a strong ball from AMF. I am so disappointed it's now gone! This is a great particle pearl. It has an even roll for a pearl but it's carry is superior on medium to dry lane conditions.  Used it on sport patterns, USBC Tourney, league etc.  It works everywhere! I've had 2, one drilled pin up and one pin down and they both performed well beyond expectations! This ball always seems to find the hole and carries so many off pocket hits. The core in this ball is from the Trimuph line such balls as the TNT, AMP and Terminal Velocity. The core and cover combo on this one gives you a lane reader that has some bite and reads backends like no other. I use it on medium to dry lanes when the heads are going and the backends are fresh. The ball shines here! It carries and hits like a winner! If you have a chance to snag one off of Ebay or wherever do so without hesitation.
