Ball spec's 15.4 3" pin 3oz top
My profile: speed 14-16mph, power stroker rt hand.

Lane surface, wood, overlays and synthetic.

Drilling: pin up 12o'clock, small wt hole, box finish.

The AMF Villain is a new "old but goodie" - new coverstock around a proven weightblock and the final result is solid!

This is a bang for the buck ball.  It fits medium to dry lane conditions and the surface can be altered to handle some heavier oil.  I tried it first in the box finish on synthetic house conditions.  It really has a unique roll.  It revs up earlier than I thought it would giving me some good midlane reaction and a powerful but controllable backend.  Worked SUPER when I had to get deep on dry condition.  Nice to have a solid resin ball that can handle dry without burning out.  It can squirt in carrydown but overall it fits where it's intended to be used.

I also took a 2000 abralon pad to it and boy did it change!  Now I have a ball that I can use in medium to heavy oil that revs up hard and hooks through some carrydown.  Great ball for someone looking to not pay the big price tag and have a ball that can cover some different conditions.  It looks pretty cool too!  Great job AMF!

15 lbs Pin up @ 12 oclock cg in mid grip
Surface @ 2000 abralon with with PH Magic shine

Once I realized that the ball isn't going to play deep I really felt it come to life.  I found this ball to play the track area (with my surface) with unbelievable predictability.  On a THS it won't give that "Impress your girlfriend and buddies" coast to coast look, but if your hottie likes to see guys plug away with real good 200+ games here is your ball.

I imagine that with a stonger layout and a touch more surface, deeper play would be possible.  I find that when the head oil goes and if I get to deep it just doen't have the snap to carry the corners out.  With the control that this ball offers carrydown isn't that big of an issue.  I just see the problems when I have to take it deep inside.  I also found that to hold true on the wood house that I bowled in last weekend.  Wood lanes and a light volume pattern...I added a bunch of polish and that kept just inside of the track area for a short time even with the extreme dry but when the little bit of head oil in that area went, the Villan went as well.

All in all a great ball for light to medium house shots and a must for Sport conditions.  The price point is all be giving it away for the amount of control this ball offers.  It doesn't get any easier than this one.

Ball spec's 15.2, 3" pin, 3oz top

Lane surface - Brunswick synthetic, 40ft slightly broken down THS

Drilling: pin up 4" x 4"  Surface:  OOB

My goal for the Villain was to fill the void between my Break solid and Link.  The short list was between the Villain & Awakening.  Being I always seem to prefer solids over pearls...I went with the Villain.

Having received the Villain the day before league, I did not roll the ball in practice.  I somewhat straight, only a slight belly from 13 out to 10 or so bumping the dry.  When the shot broke down after the 1st game, instead of moving deeper where I am not as comfortable, I picked up the Villain in the fill shot of the 10th.  WOW...the ball blew me away by it's hitting power and carry on its very first roll.  It provided a surprising amount of revs while clearing the heads with ease with a strong yet extremely consistent back end reaction. While the Villain does respond quick to dry, it's not jumpy like many balls today.  My area was more than ample and had me and my teammates smiling like a butcher's dog.  My only complaint is not making the purchase sooner.

Super job AMF!!!  This gem is a fantastic piece and the price makes it even better!

Lane Conditions: Medium Oil
Typical Conditions: House Shot
Type of Lane: All Synthetic
What part of the lane did you play? Second Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 14
Surface of bowling ball: Factory/Box
Likes: The color scheme and the simple, "old-school" design
Dislikes: A little squirty in OOB finish

Just dropped down to 14lbs and, since nobody here is throwing ANYTHING A.M.F., I decided to give one a try. Our house runs a medium oil condition, but it dries up pretty quick, and I needed something that had a good cover/weightblock without being SO picky as some of the high performance stuff is, so the Villain was the subject of interest.

After a bit of consultation with my driller, we decided on a pin down 4X2 with a low x-hole. Ball was left in OOB finish.

The first game, when the oil was fresh, this ball was MONEY playing up the boards with a small headbelly out, bumping the dry and rolling like a deathtrain into the pocket. It's only 14lbs, but I was throwing pins up and over the sidewalls, into the adjoining lane! Then, along came transition

When the heads started to read early, the ball wanted to react to the early friction too much, but when I moved in far enough to find the new oil line, the OOB surface ust wouldn't let it read enough to really get into that good roll, and I started popping quite a few wrap tens. If I held it tight, I wrapped tens and, if I sent it out, it read the dry too early and went through the nose.

The f-45 cover stock is deceptively strong, especially when you give it some early friction. The ball has a GREAT roll and track through the pins, but I think I am going to need a bit more surface and play it a bit further into the oil line before it truly shines through.

I'm not through yet. A few surface adjustments and I'll be back to let you know how things turn out. All in all, this seems to be a surprisngly decent ball and hits a ton, especially for a 14lb ball.

15lbs - 105 x 4 x 55

This ball is great when I need/want to play the lanes a little more direct and up the track or outside part of the lane.  The layout on this ball allows for it to read the mid-lane but also remain continuous through the back part of the lane.

The Villain was a little stronger than I expected, based on the numbers.  This ball is more continuous on the backend, whereas I'm able to give the ball a little more room than normal and it recovers very well.

It would be safe to say that this ball would be very versatile in the layouts chosen for it, in that it will be very predictable in the mids and will continue to power through the pin deck on entry.

Simply a great all-around piece for anyone looking to go from beginner/entry level bowler to an intermediate.  The ball will allow for control and very predictable reactions, making it easier to adjust.
