The Double Clutch looks like the Break core is in it or very close to it.
-
I think the Shredder core looks eerily similar to a squared off version of the Maniac core....
Anyone else?
I love the color of the Shredder though. The color combo on the Double Clutch reminds me of the old Columbia Full Throttle....

IMHO, I don't think it looks anywhere close to the Maniac core. The Maniac had the look of "valves" sticking out of the core. This looks more like a squared off Creature core.
-
I could be very wrong but shredder core looks like a modified c300 alter ego core without the top flip block...
-
Lets see... almost everyone is going with the "it looks like this core" analysis. I'm thinking that the chances of it looking like a core made by someone, somewhere, in the past archives of core design is pretty good...
BUT
The core in the Shredder looks fairly unique, though it does seem to share some characteristics of the rocket-core that Brunswick has used in their mid value/performance line.
The core in the Double Clutch really looks like it's a similar idea to the core in the original Break.
-
All,
The core designs in the Shredder and Double Clutch are completely new designs. The simple idea behind the Shredder core is we came up with a shape that is both symmetrical and asymmetrical in nature depending upon which axis you are looking at. On the vertical axis the Shredder core has the plate type figure for an asymmetrical core but on the horizontal axis it has a cylinder type look enclosed in the vertical plates. We were trying to merge both types into one. To sum it up we like to call it the "Half-Metrical"
Wrap around the new cover on this unique core design and this ball becomes very angular off the spot.
The core design in the Double Clutch also had a meaningful purpose and reason behind the design. Due to the popularity of the Break series core in the 900 Global line we wanted to bring that core concept into the AMF side but maintain a separate identity as well. The Double Clutch core maintains the basic overall width and depth as the break core but is somewhat shorter. The asymmetric guidelines we used to create the Break core were also used to create the Double Clutch core. Coupled with a completely new coverstock system the Double Clutch is a unique and exciting piece of equipment.

Finally a mildly strong sym ball in the shredder I hope to pick that 1 up
-
Thanks Nick for the clarification on the core and design intent! I think sometimes we lose sight in the fact that you have a purpose and reaction for all the designs and we just try to make comparisons to other core/weight blocks. It helps to have a engineer explain to us what you guys as manufacturers have in mind with each new ball. You have a successful line with the 900 Global, so why not incorporate that into the AMF line! Great job and keep up the awesome work, Bruce
