AMf Pure - 3 Month Review.
« on: May 27, 2015, 11:40:26 AM »
When I first got my AMF Pure, it did everything I wanted it to do. It hooked very well, it hit hard, and it's roll was perfect for my game.

Now after 3 months, it's not hooking near what it once did and it's hitting like a marshmallow. Now, I do clean the ball between every use and I recently resurfaced the ball on my spinner at home with the last use being the proper NEAT pad.

Not sure what to make of this. I used the Pure for the final 42 games of my Monday fall/winter league and averaged 230 with it. Now I am lucky to average 210 with it. The THS lane pattern has not changed.

Anyone had any similar dying of their Pure or does anyone have any suggestions?

Out of the box I would gave the Pure 5 stars. After 3 months of use, maybe 2.
Balls: Motiv Forza GT, Motiv Primal Rage Remix, Motiv Ascent Pearl and Motiv (On The Ball) spare ball.. All made in the USA.

I've heard and seen this happen on more than few of the AMF line.  Friend got a Mamba hybrid that rolled great for a couple of weeks and then started to lose its backend over next few weeks.

F90 is very porous. Have you tried an oil extraction?

I will start out with I do not own and have not thrown a Pure but these are my thoughts:

1) Most centers put out less oil in the summer, less leagues, less open bowling with the nicer weather. Could be that it is burning up with a strong cover kept at a dull surface.

2) It might need an actual oil extraction as Impending Doom has mentioned.

Or it might be a combination of both.

A friend of mine had the Darkness.  I did an oil extraction after only 42 games.  It actually surprised me how much oil came out.  I drill big hooking AMF Stuff for him quite frequently, and I would say that they definitely loose reaction pretty quickly.  He's had a Darkness, an Incinerate and a Mega Recovery.  All of them were beasts for him at first, but eventually became darts, even with resurface, and oil extraction.  He does very little to clean or care for his stuff, but I've never been able to restore the balls to out of box condition.  Perhaps there are some secrets I don't know about?

My Darkness oob was much rougher than 4000. I should extract oil from it.
