Pure at nationals
« on: June 06, 2015, 09:16:00 PM »
Drilled this piece pin down for nationals. It did fairly well I. Team when I switched to it just missed a few spares. 190,204 also threw the black opts the last few frames. Started with it on doubles shot 623 with a 172 in the middle. Was playing 12 to 8. I ended up moving a lot deeper for singles and was having trouble with the carry. Ended up at 192, 190, 190 clean 30 lol 9 strikes. That pure at least kept me out of trouble. Everything else I felt I would have split with at some point.

Great set. Did you primarily use it for all three sets? I mainly used mine to run up 7 8 9 10 board to create some dry boards. Initially it was my game plan and ball down and move in as the shot dictated, but this was strictly based on numerous practice sessions at my home center and a session on the showcase lanes. However, the showcase lanes played extremely different from home center as expected and definitely different than the actual lanes. There is very little if any forgiveness on mistake shots that go to the right. I found in team the shot transitioned really quick and it was all about proper angle to the pocket that yielded the best carry. However, on minors, the shot didn't transition near as fast and it wasn't until game 4 that I saw any wiggle room. I think this was due to us being on a pair with a few seniors that primarily dropped the ball left of the middle arrow and thus not playing anywhere near the outside. Mentally I got trapped inside trying to keep it close to the head pin and really could have stayed outside playing more direct and thrown my Pure for more frames, but failed to go with my gut feeling. The ICE oil definitely doesn't absorb as much or dissipate like other oils. Definitely two of the hardest patterns I have played on. Good luck to anyone else who has the opportunity to go to El Paso!

I like the idea, but I think that it might have been burning up, thus causing carry issues. I could see a Moxie, All Day, or a Night Hawk with some surface being ideal. F90 would just be too much on that. My Darkness sounds like it would be great on that.

I did use for 8 games however I did use a few balls on the fills. Team event is used my black opts for like 4 frames of my last game.

Yes the ball was burning up most of the time but I had thrown most of the stuff in my bag and had no confidence in anything not splitting so I played it safe and grinded it.

My moxie was to much on the back
