mj slam question
« on: December 14, 2003, 12:28:23 AM »
I'm looking to pick up a light 2 piece reactive. I've seen the mj slam on ebay in 11 pounds. Does this ball have a real core in the light weight or is it a pancake core?
thanx

The few people I have seen throw this ball, threw it in the garbage.

Why not just get a scout or Hit or grove. They are all cheap enough. they are all 2 piece reactives. I wouldnt even bother with ebay either for your goin to pay extra for drilling.

Thanx for the link. I'm familiar with the core design, but sometimes the lighter weights just use a pancake core. That's the question. I can get a MJ Slam for $43 shipped on ebay. $25 for drilling puts me at $68. The balls you mention are $100 drilled and up in my area.

I'm not aware of anyone that puts a real core in 11# balls.  12 or 13 is usually the limit.  Many even use a "modified" core in 12-13#.  Not to be rude, but will anyone throwing an 11# ball notice the difference?

I think so. It's for my 9 year old. He gets a lot of 8 and 9 counts with his 10 pound white dot. An extra strike a game would really boost his scores. I know the 12 pounders usually have more core but that might be to heavy for him.

Where do you buy your equipment?
I'd pay $60 drilled for a white dot.
A power groove would be abot $109-$119.

I'll tell you my son has a 10 pound stinger and navy stinger they both hit!

Great design from Ebonite in these lighter balls!  I think pancake which helps the young fellas and old ladies throwing these lighter balls get these strong cover balls to the break point!

I ended up going with a 12# revolution ball. I'll drill it up when he outgrows that 10 pound white dot.
