Orbit Extreme...

Silly good ball for the price...have sold over a few of them and very impressed indeed....sort of along the Scout R/High Flare ......but much cooler looking in my opinion

i agree...everyone could benefit from the reaction of the orbit extreme

very good ball for the money...beginners will like it as a piece that will hook more than the traditional power groove & scout...more experienced players will see that it can easily find a place in their bag on the lower end of the oil spectrum

orbit is for me a bunch weaker...needs dry to work...if there is oil it will skate and skate, but who would buy an orbit for oil anyway right? also a ball you can't beat for the price on those toasty shots...also a very good step up from plastic for a beginner

both also have very nice color schemes with great shelf appeal...don't forget about the glow for the cosmic bowlers!

Bar and I drilled up one of each out of the 10 balls we drilled this past weekend when he came up to the Pure Approach Clinic..I didn't get to see much, but the original Ornit was weak....great toast ball from the looks....as for the Xtreme....didn't see it being rolled.....

Britton,

Do both of those have the SuperFlex coverstock?  I have that on my C300 U-Turn and I really like the way it hits.  What is the difference between the Orbit and Orbit Extreme.  Not many reviews on the site here.

Yes they do...the biggest difference between the two is the core

the orbit has the same core as the scout basicly an offset puck...so it doesnt have much going on, on the inside (which can be good for some shots)

The orbit extreme has what amf calls the solar core... very similar to what you would see in your desert heat...the reaction shapes are very similar (from what i have seen/heard)

so they do have the same cover just (very) different cores...the orbit would be a step below your desert

I've had an Orbit for quite some time now!  Have it drilled pin above bridge and CG in palm - stacked.  I like the Orbit sometimes on typical "house" shot!  I play it down the "edge" of the oil.  Lately, I use my Terminal Velocity more inside on the oil.  When the oil carries down, and I need just a touch more backend, I go to the Orbit moving outside to the drier area and it slides smoothly through the heads and midlane and has just a touch more "snap" on the back, because of the drill and where I track!

Clint - wish you still got the "early" AMMF releases!  That was how I kept my AMF arsenal up to date!  Good to see you're doing well with your shop!

OK, league tonight - lanes quite a bit drier than normal.  Everyone struggling bad. I went to the Orbit on my "normal" line.  13-15 at the arrows out to about 12-10.

1st game - clean, 257
2nd game - open in 5th, 224
3rd game - open in 5th and 6th, 222

Is the orbit solid?

And the orbit extreme...pearl?

To me and looking at the core...isnt' the orbit extreme much lower rg than the Scout high flare?

i believe they are both pearl superflex...please correct me if i am wrong staffers!

im gonna venture to guess that srlunatic meant that it has a similar reaction type as a Scout HiFlare....a little more than a regular scout

i still think the extreme would be earlier and more overall than a HiFlare...all they did with the high flare was change the densities and the position of the puck compared to the regular scout to give it some umph in the back!

to my eyes...the core looks a lot like a cross between the heat blast...desert heat.... Same shape and different flare potentials...Heat Blast...more!

Sorry Drrev2000, I have to disagree - I have a low, inverted track, and you can see above how well it's treating me! I would HIGHLY recommend it! How was yours drilled!

Understood - guess that's why there's so many different balls by so many different companies - different strokes for different folks!  Use whatever works best and what you have confidence in.  For me, it's always been AMF!

I have the feeling Orbit Extreme is "Enhanced Superflex".  Maybe a stronger resin base, or a light load of particle that they aren't telling us about.  I have a friend who is a new AMF Staffer who was released by Storm Amatuer Staff.  He loved the original Eraser and said the Orbit Extreme is the closest replacement going for it.  He says it's the strongest piece you can find in the midlane for $100.  Definately not 45 feet worth of skid and 5 feet worth of flip like the other low end pieces out there.

I got to see one on the lanes last weekend in a scratch tournament by a staffer and it definately performed on a tough flatter PBA condition.  The Orbit is essentially a glow version of the Wild.  Those can either be darts(if drilled weak), very herky-jerky(if drilled strong), or nice skid/flip pieces for the heavy handed guys with lower than average speed.  This particular friend of mine never really touches the low end equipment of any manufacturer because his revrate needs a ball to pick up in the midlane, but he does have three of these so far, if that tells you guys anything.

If memory serves me correctly, all the Extreme is, is a Dry Heat in different form.  To get some sort of an idea what this ball is capable of, look at the reviews for the Dry Heat.  It should remind you of the old original Purple Beast, or similar to it.

It looks like it has a flare on the similar looking core.

About 1/2 of the way from the Desert heat to the heat blast.
.20 Desert Heat.  Like .35 this orbit extreme and .4X for the heat blast!

My guess is the orbit extreme to the desert heat would be similar to the sonic boom in comparison to the sonic x.  Very similar difference in differential.

I just drilled up my Xtreme and I must say that this is the best ball on the market for the price. Good length, strong arcing backend, and the carry is just unreal!! I've been bowling amazing with it (240 or so for 15 game).

It'll be a great ball to have if you have some hand to put behind it.

It basically has the old Coral Triton core. Best performing ball on the market at the price point PERIOD. They might be coming out with another color for the Orbit Extreme for those whom do not care for the current color that's offered.

The Orbit Extreme has the core shape of the dry heat, didn't check the #'s to see if it is the same. The original Orbit is built like a Scout, but uses a "plate" instead of a pancake.

So the Orbit and Orbit Extreme are not the same at all.

i used a 2" pin and put it above the bridge/ring finger. kicked the CG out a hair...the reaction is strong, but easy to control...good for medium to dry and even plays well on carrydown a little...not sure why

Did you need a weight hole for that?

Given a 2" pin, the drilling instructions that require at least 1" between pin and any hole (for warranty reasons), and finger inserts in the range of 31/32", wouldn't that make the static weights off?
