Anyone jumped on the AMF Bandwagon yet?
« on: November 28, 2004, 08:23:53 AM »
Seems to me they are making some quality balls again, or they may have never stopped.  They are getting in the news a lot more now thats for sure.  Just wondering if anyone is throwing their stuff or has been for that matter and what their thoughts are.  Now Joe Falco who is highly respected by myself was giving them high praise and it looks like they have held true.  So anybody else want to share their storys?

Threw my first 300 with an RPM! Used to throw nothing but AMF . . . Now that they're back, I'm back to throwing nothing but AMF again. I have the Triumph (my go-to ball), Titan, TNT, Velocity, Super Scamp, Scamp, and a Maximum Velocity on the way.  Also have some older stuff, FireHawk Super/C, Ti-Hawk, Cobra, Sumo, etc.  I love them all if I'm on the right condition for them.

Tried Track and Ebonite for a while, but am happy to be back to AMF, and glad to see them back on TV!

I've got a Titan.  Best new sub-$100 ball I've ever punched out.  With a little head oil and fresh backends, this ball creates some pretty nifty entry angles.

First of all, what's your definition of bandwagon jumping? (j/k) Me, I had the Swirl and Whiplash. Loved both of them. Well, I have been retired for a good minute now, because of an auto accident I had a few years back. Now, I have a chance to get some older equipment new and it's all AMF.

The only thing I can see getting from the newer line in the future is the TNT. Don't get me wrong, I threw some Rhino's, the Synergy, and some Bonanza ball that I can't remember what it was supposed to be, but for the most part I liked the AMF stuff. What makes me mad though is I never got that Bull Whip!

When you've moved up, moved back, adjusted left and right, cupped, flattened out, have thrown everyting in your arsenal, and the pins still don't cooperate, just say, "Aw to HELL with it!", and throw the ball!

I haven't tried any of the newer stuff, but I still regularly use a Pearl Menace and an Evolution Extra.  Two of my favorite balls.

The new AMF300 is GREAT, but so was the old stuff, I have 2 Pro XSI's, Slam, 7 original black Nighthawks,a Torque a Menace Tour, Angle Tour, Tour 2, Angle reactive, Hawk,SPT, 3 TNT's(maybe one of the great balls of all time, with the original Nighthawk) 1 amp, Amp Tour, Triumph, Maximum velocity on the way. AMF300 is making great equipment, buy some or be left behind!!!

My first AMF Reactive ball was the Dick Weber Legacy-C and I thought it was a POS, but in retrospect it probably just wasn't a good match for my game (I've come to realize that pearl reactives aren't for me).

But my next AMF ball was a hand-me-down Bone XS and I shot 300 with it, plus numerous other great scores and good series. With my next ball purchase I'm thinking of the Triumph or Triumph TNT. I'm even considering the Titan, even though it's another pearl reactive (but a much stronger pearl reactive than the Legacy).

Yes I am on the bandwagon. All companies have cycles, right now these boys are making some of the biggest waves.  The maximum velocity has been utilized by both a stroker and a cranker with success. The question then needs to be asked is why? I like all companies with the exception of 1 and with the recent success it behoves me not to take a look into AMF's direction. I hope they have a great year and do well as they have been on the bottom end for a couple of years.

Like a few others have said, with all of the noise that they've been making as of late it would almost seem foolish not to look at some of their stuff.  When 3 out of the 4 guys on the TV show are using the same ball, something is up. The really impressive fact, as was already mentioned, is the fact that the same ball was used effectively by players with completely different styles. I may have to give the Maximum Velocity some serious consideration once my seller gets a hold of some.

I've been using a Nighthawk Revenge and a Bull Whip in league all year.  In my not very knowledgeable opinion, the Bull Whip is one of the best balls ever made.

Why change balls? I can miss my target with any of them!
