I just want to say thank you to AMF and what a company are for bowling. I call brunswick for pins for some art I was working on and I wanted new pins for this and they had some 2004 pins where the bottom ring would fall out and they would have given me one case and would sell me a new ball for $ 75.00. So I call AMF and told them what I was going to do for the art project and they sent me 3 cases of new AMF Pins with the USBC logo on them and they also sent me 2 Radar Locks to use. Once again a big thanks to AMF

Yeah. That sounds like Brunswick. Brunswick may manufacture good bowling balls, but their corporate business is down right horrible. Before anyone goes on the defensive, I used to be a M.O.D of a Brunswick center. I have seen with my own eyes what goes on behind the scenes.

Kudos for AMF's generosity, but Brunswick's hardly out of line. They can hardly just give stuff away willy-nilly. They don't know him from Adam. They had some stock they couldn't use because they were defective and rather than trash it, they offered to give it to him. Seems quite reasonable. And they offered to sell him equipment for a reduced cost (BG's message doesn't say anything about using balls, so I'm guessing it's for personal use).

But the point he is trying to make, is that they were trying to sell him stuff that was falling apart. THEY WERE NOT GOING TO USE IT ANYWAY. By the way....Yes they can afford to give stuff away once in awhile if it is for charitable reasons. Like I stated above, I used to work for Big B. I know what kind of money these people rake in. Lets just say I know how much Center Managers get as a BONUS for making budget. My GM bought a new BMW with his. If the corporation can do that every year, they can give a guy a case of bowling pins for next to nothing.

I didn't get the impression they tried to sell him a case of bowling pins. They would give him the pins and offered him a discount on a ball. Sounds alright to me.

As for giving away for charitable reasons, if I'm not mistaken, he's not a charity. He creates artwork with bowling stuff and sells it on his website. Art, sure, I'll believe. Charity no. Most artists create because they love it and don't necessarily expect to rake in the dough for their effort, but don't mistake that for being a charity.

Clearly, AMF had the better deal and again, kudos to them. But I see nothing about this being a charitable project, nor that he expected handouts. This looks to me like one company doing business with another.

I can agree with you on those regards. I just think it is pathetic that a HUGE company like Brunswick has to act like they are broke and cant afford anything. I have seen things from the other side of the counter per se. I did not like what I saw.

Shelly yes I do make bowling art work and sell it but would I ever get some for free and sell it NO WAY would I do that. This was for the National bowling art contest and if I would win they will keep the art and show it off at the usbc conf. and bowling expo. I saw it as advertising for AMF with they pins and bowling ball. yes they did give me one for personal use and I will give them a strike for that to display in there lobby it they want to.

thank you AMF for charging DOUBLE per game and shoes than any of the 5 centers within 10 miles. thanks for that. also thanks for still having the orignal wood lanes that were on there last cut and you had to grind down teh nails LAST season. this is one of the reasons they can do that. as you might be able to tell, i dont really like AMF...

I didn't think you'd be looking for freebies that you could sell, I figured you just got lucky. If the people at AMF are anything like the people at Track (probably not, since the ball arm of AMF is a part of C300 and not the AMF that makes bowling pins), then they'll be gracious about it.

I've said it many times. Hate the local management not the parent company. I used to bowl at nothing but AMF houses before I moved and they were all just fine. Great rates for league bowlers, lanes well maintained, decent food prices... It's a big investment to replace old wood lanes. One of my old houses was just about the same place as your is now. On the plus side, I shot my first 300 right before they replaced the wood.

If you want to hate on AMF, do it for the right reasons and in the proper place. Lets not ruin Bowling General's positive post any more.
