Are they phasing out the amf line?
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:21:44 AM »
Simple question nothing has been released since bowl expo in amf line, is it done? Are they killing the amf brand?  and at that they only brought out two balls

Globally my game has never been better in tourneys they always say im a longshot, in my head i am always the favorite.  At the end of the day I'm scoring a raw profit to deposit in the bank.

Personally I hope they don't...I hadn't thrown AMF since the Angle days until I punched a Shred-It and found what a nice piece it is for me...I wouldn't mind getting a second one actually...

I haven't seen a new AMF ball for quite awhile. I am a big AMF fan. I have shot all my honor scores with AMF equipment. Angle Evolution, Evolution Tour, Bullwhip. I miss the AMF line! I tried the 900 Global equipment. But the cores don't seem to match up to my game. The last AMF ball i had was the NKryption code. I will miss the brand if it is retired.

If I have heard correctly, AMF used to be a testing ground for Track, Columbia 300, etc. Now, they're are a fraternal twin of 900 Global. The Double Clutch is almost an identical match of the Break core. The Hook! is a modified Code weightblock. Personally, right now, I have more AMF in the bag than 900. Here's the breakdown.

AMF
Hype Reactive
Hype Urethane x 2 (and one NIB!)
Titan
Big Heist
Clutch
Clutch Pearl

900 Global
Bank
Break S75
Break
Link
Nuts Pearl

Seismic
Aftermath

So no, I don't think that the AMF brand is going away. But, stranger things have happened.

AMF has some really good pieces out right now. The Grip is a really nice piece, especially for the money. It's smooth but strong, and very versatile. It's really a great benchmark ball, while being versatile enough that you may never need to put it away as the lane breaks down (just move into the head oil and adjust your ball speed acccordingly).
The OMG Pearl is (from my own experience and what I've seen) much tamer on the back end than advertised, but a really good ball for playing the track area, especially if there is a little bit of bounce outside. Carry is phenomenal with this ball!

Good God, I hope they are not phasing out AMF!  I've had 4-300's over the past year and an 800 to boot, all with AMF stuff....Hype, Double Clutch Pearl, Grip!  And missed several times with the OMG & OMG Pearl.  I believe they put out the smoothest, most readable stuff out right now.  It'd be a shame if they do.

Oh....it is old news but I just picked up a clutch solid.

I think it is one of the best league balls I have thrown in a long time.  Controllable, plenty of hook and lots of hit!

I'll right a full review hopefully soon!
