ball drilling help
« on: January 21, 2006, 05:09:29 AM »
Hello bowlers and drillers..
this is my story..

I got a amf triumph...
pin 3-4
drilled with pin below mid finger and cg punched out
to the fingers. like the "forward roll" placement shown
on the drilling instructions paper inside the ball box
something like this:

O O
p
----*

O

this drill makes the ball go longer than any, and makes a later hit
but almost always the ball spins over the thumb hole.. what causes
a inconsistent play.

i will try to put some balance hole, in order to make the ball
spin away from the thumb.. but now...  "Where" is the question...

any one here could help me??
thanks.
happy bowling.!!!

Is the cg under your pin, which is under your middle finger or is it kicked towards your PAP?  If your right handed and its stacked under your middle finger, that may be your problem.  That drilling will be very tame and that explains your lenght problem.  You can pm me and i will try to help you fix this problem.

Ok..
a little update...

i have thrown the ball last night in medium oil
with top hat pattern.
i tried rolling it with a different release, without bending the wrist, this makes the ball draw the track near the thumb but not through the thumb..
the ball goes longer and make a real later hook.. but it needs the dry part of the lane clean, and a bit part of the dry edge to be aggressive and forgivable.. hits really hard, but i have to take care of the release.. a little mistake causes the thumb rolling and the ball goes straighter than any plastic ball.!! (ideal for 10 pins!)

greetings to all...
