To add to what the others have said,
The Clutch also has a high RG core, around 2.55 (in 14lbs, it's probably higher than that), while the Shredder has a very low RG, around 2.49 in 14 lbs, AND a more aggressive coverstock. The Shredder also has a higher DIfferential, . 054" vs the Clutch's .044".
So it could be you just don't have enough oil to use this ball where you like to play. This is especially true when you sanded it to 2000 grit and left it dull. I could almost guarantee it was using up all its energy early then.
Add in the fact that a label drilling ( you should be more specific, since this is vague at the best of times) will often place the pin at a very strong point with respect to your PAP.
