heist ?
« on: November 15, 2008, 06:10:56 AM »
my mother needs a new ball...or one to help her out a little. she has a cherry vibe drilled pin next to the ring with the cg in the palm it rolls good but it deflects a little for her and doesnt carry...would the heist be an alright ball for her? her speed is like 12 mph and maybe 175 rpms...MAYBE!!! she is a straight player and relies on spares...

Can you give more infro on oil, lanes etc.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

Although not an AMF I would suggest something from Morich with the ezrev core she wont need to do much to get it to roll over.

I had a Heist and loved it. One of the best balls I have ever had. I used it for a season and then gave it to a senior bowler that needed a different ball but couldn't afford one. Then I missed that ball so much that I purchased another one. This ball has a great back-end and carries very well with little effort. I have low revs and slower speed of about 15 MPH and the ball was drilled pin under RF and CG out just enough that it didn't need a weight hole. I plan on drilling the other one I just bought the same way.

I have to agree with Brick the Heist is a great rolling ball. Mine is smooth and strong off the spot not jumpy at all, rolls up and carries great.

As good as the Heist may be, the problem has not been addressed: why is the Cherry Vibe deflecting and not carrying????

If there's too much oil for it, yes, the Heist is a potential solution.

If, HOWEVER, the problem is that she is not throwing a 15 lb CV fast enough, then a 15 lb Heist is NOT the solution.

If the problem is the CV is not correctly drilled for her and this oil pattern and lane surface, then the Heist is not the solution.
(Synthetics are/can be slick.)

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.

the vibe doesnt carry cuz to me its A, drilled wrong, and B, the lanes are too oily for her and that ball, she doesnt want to plug it cuz "then it looks bad.." yes that is how my mother chooses a bowling ball, by how it looks...Sorry, but thats her lol. and i think its just drilled to strong for wut the ball is for, to me it reacts to soon for that piece, the cv is supposed to be flippy and hers rolls and thats bad...so im thinking the heist could be stronger and not deflict but be an obvious step up for her

The Heist is way more versatile and playable on more conditions than the Cherry Vibe as well as many other balls also. The cover is easily tuneable if necessary. I found mine to work perfect for me, the way it comes NIB. I can't speak for others. I throw 14# and never had a problem getting it to turn the corner and make a strong move to the pocket plus it carrys thru the pocket as well as any ball I have ever had.

Ryan,

You say both, it reacts too soon AND there's too much oil for it.
You can't, as near as I can tell, have both situations for the same ball.
If there's too much oil for it, it cannot possibly react too soon. And vice versa.

The Heist will be earlier than the CV and will roll out sooner, UNLESS there's something else going on that you haven't described.

My bet/guess right now, is the ball is too heavy and she can't throw it fast enough for the amount of oil. I'd say she needs either a lighter weight ball or a ball that goes longer than the CV, one that handles even less oil.

yea i just read that, opps i sounded pretty dumb there. From the last time i saw her bowl her cherry vibe just kinda rolled. she is pretty much up the back of the ball and it just never gets enough length to flip into the pocket, it just rolls and hits and goes right never driving through the pins. So im thinking that maybe the heist wont really help...im gonna tell her to try a 14lb ball and see what she thinks about it
