Clutch

Getting my Clutch drilled on Wednesday. Not sure what layout I want to use.

I've been throwing a Storm Reign lately and liking it.

I know the Clutch is smoother, figured it would be better on more oil.

Stats: 4 1/8 over 5/8 down, Left handed, above average speed, average rev rate.

Any ideas???

I haven't thrown a Reign, and probably never will, but I can speak for the Clutch.  The Clutch that I have thrown is a strong ball on the back end.  I know of a couple others that are also pretty strong balls and maybe a bit to strong for the typical house patterns that they have been thrown on.

On that note does anyone have any suggestions for polish or surface prep for a bit more length yet won't skate to much?

Lefty, with your above average speed you will probably want to try it in box finish before trying any coverstock adjustments.

I have been a big fan on 600 grit sandpaper, plus a dose of snake oil. Just the right length you will want and still ebing strong throughout nthe lane.

Although not the same ball, I did this with a Sideways that was over under at box, and kinda weak and over-under as well at 4000 abralon. This finish woke up a beast of a ball.

Going to try this on my Clutch as well. Give it a try it shouldn't hurt. Yoiu could also try taking down to 1000 then going back up to 4000 where is won't be as dull as factory 4000 finishes

Nice post, Skip.  To follow up on our conversation earlier in the week, I am going to try 2000 or 4000 on my Clutch this week.

Skip punched my Clutch and the ball is good, very good.  Just like the BTM review, I had to move my entire line inside a full arrow with the Clutch.  I was blown away how much more hook the ball has over my Break Point.  Unfortunately, this line is well out of my comfort zone.  My intent was to alter the surface to give me a tad more length before the ball started its move.

Skip, Polaris1050, and I each had our own ideas but I ended up trying some old school Columbia 600 Degree.  Well, lets just say my Clutch could've tried out for a hockey team.  She never made the movement towards the pocket...just skate, skate, skate.

So now I am going to hit the ball with 1000 Abralon and take it up to either 2000 or 4000 Abralon for this week's league.

I polished mines with Bean's and at least it is sometimes usable.  OOB was waaay too strong and there's not enough oil where I bowl at.

i'll pitch in my opinion.
My clutch drill with pin up at bridge, doesn't flare much AT ALL! i'm waiting to use it on cheetah...maybe that will be the ONLY pattern for mine....

Mine is pin and cg leverage under ring finger with mb in strong position still in oob so far have a 290 and havent shot under a 700 series yet when they say this balls is compared to widow sting they wasnt joking i like it better than the sting smooth thru fronts and massive backend and carry is awesome
