Has the Radar ALERT got "pearlization" in it?
« on: February 20, 2008, 09:17:19 AM »
Title says it!

The colors are Sapphire & Gold and I think it's the Gold color that appears to have "some" Pearlization in it! The one I seen kind of looks like a sanded Particle Pearl ball!

Does anybody else see this?

A ball that is Pearlized, has a distinct look and you can tell if it's pearlized... Pearlization has got a distinct look to it!

If this is the case, wouldn't it be skiddish on Heavy Oil?

Thanks!

So if this ball is a Particle Pearl then how can it be a Heavy Oil ball?

It seems like it make it skiddish?

???  Never heard it called a Particle Pearl, only a Particle.  I wonder if the gold is a gold pearl color?

to my limited knowledge it is a gold pearl color, not pearlized resin, a solid resin with light particle load, One7Plus coverstock

Radar Alert is particle-
Color-Sapphire/Gold Pearl (it does have a hint of pearl for aesthetic purposes but not enough to classify this ball as a particle/pearl coverstock.)

Brunswick's Monster SmachR had also been subject of wild debates - silver and metallic grey in color, PK18, at 800 grit OOB. But it ran as a solid ball despite its looks?

Are you so rigid in your bowling beliefs that only certain classifications of balls can handle "heavy" oil? You should be a little more flexible. What a bowling ball can do has more to do with its basic characteristics than in what classification it falls into, especially in today's bowling world.

Do you realize that this ball, the Alert, no matter what it is made of, comes dull and has been used successfully on heavy oil patterns??

Do you realize that most companies no longer carry particles balls and that for them solid resins with strong cores handle more oil than their previous solid particle balls.

Do you realize that there are some pearl resin balls that handle more oil than some particle balls?

There's an old saying in bowling that perhaps you're not familiar with:
"You buy a ball reaction; you do not buy a (particular kind of) ball."

Whoa, whoa, whoa... do you feel better now buddy?

My turn!

Are YOU so rigid in YOUR mind, that YOU haven't noticed that I haven't posted on this site in close to 2 1/2 years? Surely you have noticed because me and you would message each other from time to time. And I posted on this site everyday, probably 20 times a day, for over a year back then!

YOU should be a little more flexible with the way you treat people when they ask a question that they don't know the answer to.

Have you not got enough sense to understand since I have been away from bowling for several years that maybe, just maybe, I am not up to date on all this possibility of Pearls hooking in floods that you speak of? When I was getting out of bowling, they had JUST STARTED slowly releasing "so-called" Heavy Oil balls that were REACTIVE instead of Particle and people were not yet having 100% success with them on Heavy Oil! They were still sliding a little to far and were a little too over/under... and the need for PARTICLE on Heavy Oil was still there!

With me being away from the game for the amount of time that I was, does your common sense level honestly allow you to think that I would just somehow magically know that Ball Manufacturers were making REACTIVE balls that can actually handle "truer" Heavier Oil then they were making 2 1/2 years ago... even if I have been distant from the bowling world for all this long?

So you think I'm just "suppose" to know that ball design technology has advanced this far in the last few years without me even being involved with the sport during that time? Okay, how about this... If you had been in a coma for 5 days, do you think you could wake up and tell the nurse what happened 2 days earlier on a classic episode of "Leave It To Beaver" or "Reading Rainbow with Lavar Burton"?

Do YOU realize that because I have been away from bowling, that more than likely I have not EVEN HEARD of ANY of the balls that have been released in the last couple years until about 2-3 weeks ago, including the ALERT? And no, I was not aware that the Alert "has been used successfully on heavy oil patterns"? Once again, Charlest, I have been away from bowling for a good bit of time... so it would be hard for me to know this!

UUUmmmmmmm... weeellllllllll... I'm sorry Charlest, I guess I'm guilty of not knowing this little "statistic" either! Silly me, I should pay attention to specific details like this the next time I'm "out of the loop" for a period of time with any sport I guess!

Charlest, to find the answer to this question, please read my other replies as they may indicate why I didn't realize that there are some pearl resin balls that handle more oil than some particle balls. I'm sure you'll find something in my replies that specify why I didn't realize that! Like perhaps... these key words or phrases, "I'VE BEEN AWAY FROM BOWLING FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS!" ???

quote:
There's an old saying in bowling that perhaps you're not familiar with:
"You buy a ball reaction; you do not buy a (particular kind of) ball."

Ahhh yes... those great famous sayings!!! This "saying" is actually what I was thinking of when I was typing my original question at the top of the page! I am used to the earlier ball technology of the "so-called" true Heavy Oil REACTIVES from a couple of years ago when they were first coming out (and being promoted as Heavy Oil balls), and "some" people were saying they wouldn't queit handle the Heavy stuff like Particle Balls would. And back then (a couple years back), the average person would think that Pearlization in a ball would add a little bit of a "skiddish reaction" to a ball on anything more that Medium/Heavy Oil!

I really wasn't aware that technology had advanced so far in the last couple years, to where we'd have kids hooking Plastic Balls and Volly Balls 46 boards accross 3 lanes on a Flood!

The end!
