Double Clutch Pearl
« on: February 05, 2011, 10:15:58 AM »
Just got one of these punched today.  Didn't get a chance to throw it.  I am looking forward to seeing what it will do.  If the reviews are correct, I should be able to use this on a more broken down shot.  Carrydown though I hear it wiggles.  I don't know the exact specs but the pin is an inch above my ring finger and mass bias is right next to the thumb(not in my track).  If anyone has punched one of these up, what has your experience been with the ball?

I have found this ball to be quite strong!  A few feet longer than the solid, but alot stronger at the break.  i have mine punched pin above bridge, with mb kicked out right inline with thumb.  i have found best use on medium, medium heavy with clean backs.  There is no way I could use this ball on broken down stuff, unless you are speed dominate.

I threw the ball on a supposed fresh shot ( watched the machine waiting for league).  I'm not sure what synthetics they have.  I tried to go straighter with it and playing anywhere between 1-12.  I could not for the life of me be able to kick the ten out. When I adjusted my hand position, I started to come up high and leaving the four pin.  Had 1 open frame in each of the first 2 games and have 2 strikes way far apart in each game and the rest spares. Shot 187, 181 respectively.  I decided I was going to move far left and start crossing boards(not my A game but I am versatile and comfortable playing these angles if needed)  I start out with a ring ten the strung the next 6 then a ten then a strike then a ten and finished with a 245.  It appears I may need to place a hole on my axis to calm it down. I was quite surprised as how strong this ball is. I went with this ball since I liked the Break series but the covers were too strong.  I thought this would fill a gap but it didn't for OOB.  I will tinker with surface first of course. My impression of this ball so far is positive.  However, I do not agree with what the information says about this ball. Much stronger.

I warned ya!  lol.  Stick with it, it took me several games to nail it down.  As I usually dont throw strong pearls.  Bowling this month magazine actually rated it as strong as the bank pearl, but earlier.  Not to mention its one of the best lookin balls ive seen.

With seeing your 'what's in my bag' of equipment, how do you like the Favorite?  What kind of reaction are you getting from it?

Its really the only ball I need for league play on a 40' ths.  Pin above bridge with cg in palm.  Super smooth rolling ball. Doesnt go crazy if you touch dry to soon, and will still hook in medium to medium/heavy oil.  This is my read the lanes and control ball.
