There were several posts on here when this one first came out. Bought one and pretty much set in the bag other than a little practice. Must have set long enough. Summer in Texas has been a bit warm and after having to set out most the summer with a back flare up I made it back out on the lanes with two weeks to go in league. Decided to take a pearl after having to watch guys struggle with the lanes changing so fast due to the heat. After a tentative first week I chose to use the Dbl Clutch Pearl or Favorite based on the first week. Well should I say after three straight opens with my Favorite and a real flat reaction Iswitched to the pearl. Thats the set up.
What I discovered was a ball with an amazing consistency, at least for now with the heat. I drilled mine pin down at about 5" from PAP and MB on the VAL. This layout is my prefered with the 900 equipment so figured use it here too. It also is what I used on a Break Point Pearl I loved before it cracked. House is Anvilane synthetic with 39 foot pattern. They keep it legal, but does have the typical 10-10 and since its a Phoenix wick machine a medium in that 7-10 area with lighter outside. With the drill I have the ball is really smooth and retains plenty of energy for the backend. Not skid snap with this drill but smooth through the mids but doesn't over react in the dry. There is a point that I get too deep using a clean release, but that normally won't happen until the third game at least. In the three weeks since I really came back the only negative game was when I did not roll the DC pearl. Two 700's and a 299 later (figjam) I think this is a keeper and would put it high on my current arsenal list. This is the first AMF I have owned since plastic days and first out of San Antonio, but don't think it will be my last. I would have to recommend this one if looking for a strong mid line pearl
Roll with 900 Global.
